It was as close to a fairy-tale season as the Lewis Cass tennis program had experienced. For the first time ever, the boys' varsity team walked away with a sectional championship.

The celebration of that historic event didn't last long, however, as the Kings fell to the Western Panthers in regional action on Oct. 8.

Lewis Cass seniors Riley Johnson, Nolan Hines, Nelson Melin, Jarin Williams, and Bryce Rudd shared in the season's success, leading the team in varsity play. Due to illness, sophomore Jayden Ramer played for Rudd at the regional contest.

For the Panthers, a regional title ended up being theirs. They then traveled to Culver Academy for a semi-state bout with No. 15-ranked South Bend St. Joseph. Western's 2024 season ended with a 3-2 loss to the Huskies on Oct. 12.
