If you are a Kokomo resident, or are within driving distance of Kokomo, and are looking for a fantastic place to have fun, I would highly recommend taking advantage of a location right here in Kokomo.

The location I am referring to is Jackson Morrow Park, located at 4200 S. Park Road. It has something for people of all ages, and I have personally witnessed several groups of people sharing their afternoon together and stating, "We have to do this again!"

Jackson Morrow Park is a very picturesque park and is a very popular tourist attraction, offering visitors a peaceful escape into nature. It has sprawling green spaces, scenic walking trails, and recreational facilities offering a perfect spot for a family outing, a leisurely stroll, and a very relaxing picnic.

Whether you are looking to enjoy some outdoor activities or just have a great time relaxing in a quiet, serene environment, Jackson Morrow Park will have something for everyone.

Just to name a few opportunities offered, there are excellent paved walking trails available for walking and jogging to get exercise, plenty of open grassy areas to toss a frisbee or play football, and an area with picnic tables to enjoy a great outdoor meal with family and friends.

You can walk your dog or just sit and relax and watch the other visitors enjoying their day. The paved walking paths have light posts, and people enjoy the added sense of security.

Jackson Morrow Park is very clean, well-maintained, and very serene and quiet. I have seen people painting portraits and enjoying the peace and quiet. The lawns are professionally maintained and manicured, and the trees always bring peacefulness to the entire area.

The park also has areas for racing RC cars and a playground area that actually is shaped like our state if you view it from above. The park has volleyball courts as well as forest trails by the creek, and there are plenty of spots to just relax in the sun while your friends are walking.

One of my personal favorite attractions at Jackson Morrow Park is the Retha Kirkendall Interpretive Nature Center. It offers many programs and events throughout the year. It offers Explorer science camps for kids, a pumpkin painting event, and a Monster Mash Bash Fall Festival and Haunted Trail Walk in October.

Other events include environmental workshops and tree sales in cooperation with the Howard County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Howard County Solid Waste District, school field trip opportunities, scouting programs, Indiana Hunter Safety Education courses, and many volunteer opportunities.

The Kirkendall Interpretive Nature Center also has a large diorama of preserved animals native to Howard County, live animal exhibits, displays about natural resources, a bird watching area and more. The nature center also has information regarding the local wildlife that can be found in the park and along the Little Wildcat Creek that runs through the Jackson Morrow Park, as well as information about wildflowers that can be found in the park and along the walking trails that surround the nature center.

You can visit Jackson Morrow Park online at www.cityofkokomo.org/departments/parks_and_recreation_department.php and see the hours they are open and view some fantastic photos of the facility. I know several people who had not heard of it, and once I informed them, they took the time and effort to thank me for recommending them visit, and they are now constant visitors. In the very near future, I hope to do an on-site podcast for my Outdoors with Bud program.
