Lonnie Ray Tucker

Lonnie Ray Tucker, 86, Kokomo, levitated into Heaven to greet Jesus Christ and rejoin his mother, father, brothers, and sisters on Thursday morning, March 13, 2025. He was born in Russiaville on May 30, 1938. Lonnie grew up with nine brothers and six sisters.

Lonnie graduated from Forest High School in 1956. After graduation, he served in the United States Army for six years. The following year, he attended Manchester College before starting a career that lasted 38½ years at Indiana Bell. He retired in 1999.

On March 28, 1970, Lonnie married Marylene Whittaker-Myers, and they spent nearly 55 years inseparable. Together they raised five daughters and one son. Lonnie enjoyed many activities, including slow-pitch softball, singing Gospel music, farming, and spending evenings with family playing Euchre and Rook. He was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs, and he visited Wrigley Field more than 20 times.

Along with his wife Marylene, Lonnie is survived by his children Georgetta (Charlie) Simmons, Brenda Ellison, Jay (Peggy) Tucker, Susan (Chris) Leonard, and Carol (Bill) Purvis, along with 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents Albert and Ica (Cocker) Tucker; brothers Earl, Ernest, Max, Kenneth Lincoln, and Joe; sisters Delores, Thelma, and Judy; and daughter Mary Ruth “Ruthie” Harless.

A funeral service celebrating Lonnie’s life will take place at 12 p.m. on Thursday March 20, 2025, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with military honors provided by The Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Radiant Life Ministries, 1602 E. Gano St., Kokomo. Jesse Wayne Mitchell

Jesse Wayne Mitchell, 49, a lifelong resident of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was born May 17, 1975, to the late Terry Shelby and Trudy Mitchell.

Jesse attended Fresh Start Ministries in Kokomo. During his free time, he participated in a bowling league at Heritage Lanes. He was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and never missed a game. Jesse was currently working for Cunningham Concrete with his best friend. He loved art, especially painting. He spent many hours creating masterpieces and had a real talent for it.

Jesse is survived by his daughter Arionna Clement (Julio Diaz), three grandsons Brayden Clement, Ashton Reed, and Jenson Reed, his best friends Shenandoah and Gary Stipe, as well as many other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jesse is preceded in death by his twin brother Harold Mitchell.
