Vernon Reese Fowler
Vernon Reese Fowler, 90, Kokomo, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at his home. He was born February 5, 1935, in Anderson, the son of the late Byron and Adrian (Legg) Fowler. On September 16, 1960, he married Ann (Lanning) Fowler at the Greentown Christian Church, and she survives.
Vernon was a 1953 graduate of Eastern High School. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1959, earning the rank of E-4. He entered the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in January of 1964. Vernon’s honors and commendations included the Good Conduct Medal, and Marksman with a rifle and pistol. He farmed until the age of 43, farming in his earlier life with his dad and his brother. Vernon was a 50-year member of Greentown American Legion Post #317, 40-year member of Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and a HAM Radio Operator. In 2001, Vernon retired from Chrysler Corporation after 41 years of service as a Journeyman electrician. After retirement, he returned to Chrysler, working as a consultant.
In addition to his wife Ann, Vernon is survived by his children Mike (Wendy) Fowler and Bradley Fowler, grandchildren Colten (Jenna) Fowler, Ciara (fiancé Delon Tuggle) Fowler, Jack Fowler, and Karli Fowler, brother Ron (Jane) Fowler, brothers-in-law Jim (Connie) Lanning and Dave Lanning, along with several nieces and nephews.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws James & Mary Lanning, daughter-in-law Angelique Fowler, and sister-in-law Patsy Lanning.
A funeral service celebrating Vernon’s life will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Dave Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the start of the service on Thursday, at the funeral home.
