Ramona “Mona” Karel (Wilson) Harrison

Ramona “Mona” Karel (Wilson) Harrison, 84, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away 12:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Canterfield Senior Living Center in Fort Myers, Florida. She was born in Kokomo, IN, on July 25, 1940, the daughter of the late Ardee Wilson and Ruth Esther (Chism) Wilson. On November 1, 1958, she married Robert Thomas “Tom” Harrison Jr., and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2008.

Mona was a 1958 graduate of Kokomo High School. She retired from General Motors after 35 years of service as a machinist and in the shipping and receiving department. Her favorite hobbies were bowling, golfing, and snow skiing. Mona was at her best when she was lounging around the pool or spending time with her family. She was the best grandma and “GIGI” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police. Mona formerly attended St. Patrick Catholic Church when she lived in Kokomo.

She is survived by: her sons Thomas Matthew (Patti) Harrison and Guy Parker (Nancy) Harrison; grandchildren Jason (Melissa) McFadden, Amie McFadden, Zachary (Kira) Harrison, Alec Harrison, and Nicole (Tony Santovenia) Harrison; great-grandchildren Delilah Rose Canady, Oliver Boyce McFadden, and Hudson Sawyer Brown; sisters Becky Bitner and Mary (Greg) Reed; brother-in-law Jack (Janet) Harrison; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepdad Harold Eugene Fletcher, stepmom Bonnie Marie (Dollins) Wilson, brother Kent Wilson, and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington St., Kokomo, IN 46901, with Fr. Peter Vanderkolk the celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Crown Point Cemetery in Kokomo. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.



Lou Ann Lybrook

Lou Ann Lybrook, 84, of Bloomington, formerly of Kokomo, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, January 29, 2025, in Kokomo. She was born June 22, 1940, in Kokomo to Joseph H. and Annabelle (Short) Ellers. Lou Ann married Gary C. Lybrook April 27, 1985, and he preceded her in death November 18, 2017.

Lou Ann was a 1958 graduate of Kokomo High School. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Franklin College in 1962, in Franklin, Indiana. Lou Ann helped her parents in the family business, Ellers Mortuary in Kokomo, for several years. She became interested in local politics in Howard County and was elected and served as Center Township Assessor and Howard County Assessor. One of the highlights of her political career was serving as Chairperson on the committee to bring Ronald Reagan to Kokomo during his bid for the White House in 1980.

Lou Ann and Gary were former members of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Kokomo where they were very active for many years. After moving to Bloomington in 1999, they also became active in Faith Lutheran Church where she ran the church bookstore. She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and the P.E.O. Sisterhood (Philanthropic Educational Organization). Lou Ann and Gary enjoyed traveling together whenever possible and spending time in Florida during the cold winter months. She was a very loving mother and grandmother to her family.

Surviving family include her children and stepchildren Richard (Mary) Woolington, Indianapolis, Julie (Drew) Frey, Bloomington, Timothy (Catherine) Lybrook, Bloomington, Polly (Mick) Parker, Colorado, and David (Anne) Lybrook, Cicero. She is also survived by grandchildren Rex Woolington, Alex Frey, Adam Frey, Chad (Tane) Lybrook, Blaine (Jessica) Lybrook, Garrett (Kate) Kane, Madeline (Alex) Sagona, Spencer Lybrook, Carly Lybrook, and Evie Lybrook. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Joy Welch, Lafayette and Alexis Taubert, Chicago, and several nieces and nephews. Lou Ann is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Annabelle Ellers, husband Gary, brother Joedy Ellers, and sister-in-law Claudia Dixon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 E. Southway Blvd. Kokomo, Indiana with Pastor John Dreyer officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to services at the Church. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Kokomo. Memorial contributions may be given to Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Kokomo, Faith Lutheran Church in Bloomington or a Christian organization of choice in Lou Ann’s memory.

Special Note: A memorial service in Bloomington will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, 2200 S. High Street, Bloomington, IN 47401



Valerie Ann Woods

Valerie Ann Woods, 66, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away January 30, 2025. She was born on October 15, 1958, in Kokomo, IN, the daughter of Clara (Turner) Morris.

Valerie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, sci-fi movies, and scary movies. She was a very hard worker and absolutely loved her family. Valerie had a passion for Bigfoot. She was sometimes known to be a "firecracker." Most of all she loved her grandkids. She was very fond of her nieces and nephews and was very close to them.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Sherri (Robert) Mclain and George Woods Jr., grandchildren Autumn Ryan, Zoe Ryan, Connor Ryan, and Britain Hill, and great-grandson Milo Sandlin.

Valerie was preceded in death by her daughter Leona Baker, sister Barbara Luna, and her mother Clara.

Charles Webb Hastings

Charles Webb Hastings, age 75, Logansport, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Friday, January 24, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born September 10, 1949, in Winchester, Kentucky, he was the son of Clifford and Alma Tucker Hastings.

He married Deborah Krantz Howell in 1996.

A 1967 graduate of Logansport High School, Charlie then served in the United States Air Force.

He retired after 42 years from Matthew-Warren as a heavy press operator. For 12 years he was president of the United Steelworkers Union Local 3261.

For 12 years he served as a City Councilman for the City of Logansport, the only Independent candidate in Cass County ever to win a general election.

Charlie loved running and competed in 28 marathons. He made many friends as a runner, and they formed a tight running community.

He is survived by: a son, Bryan (Melissa) Hastings, Austin, Texas, and their son, Brayden Hastings; a daughter, Angela (Jesse) Zimmerman, Logansport, and their children, Charles Zimmerman and Meghan Slone; a stepson, Clayton (Angela) Howell, Lexington, NC, and their daughters, Alexis (Trevin) Sluss and Brianna Howell, and her son, Carter Howell; and a step-daughter, Addie (Travis) Cucore, Depauw, Indiana; a brother, John Hastings, Logansport; a sister, Teresa Geiselman, Kokomo; nieces and nephews; and good friends, John Ely and Pastor Carolyn DeWitt.

There will be no public visitation or funeral service.

The family expresses a special "thank you" to the excellent caregivers of the Guardian Angel Hospice and Comfort Keepers.
