Christine Bailey
Christine Bailey, age 88, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
A memorial gathering for Christine will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
Jane Henderson
Jane Henderson, 93, of Sharpsville, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025. She was born in Tipton on December 25, 1931, to James Mont & Lilly Belle (Jarrett) Hawkins. Jane was the wife of Hubert “Max” Henderson. They were married January 21, 1950, at their home in rural Sharpsville after they started dating in 1947. They were high school sweethearts.
Jane graduated from Sharpsville High School in the Class of 1949. She was a busy farm wife. She taught baton twirling for many years and served on the boards of both the Indiana State Twirling Association and the National Twirling Association. She was able to touch many young women’s lives through twirling.
Jane was in the Sharpsville Lioness Club, active in the Sharpsville United Methodist Church, and did catering for local luncheons. She was also a member of the Jolly Mollies card club for over 50 years. Max and Jane enjoyed wintering in Yuma, Arizona, for many years where they made lifelong friends.
Max and Jane had two children, Gae Matchette (Gene) and Monty Henderson (Kandi). They also have four grandchildren, Caleb (Heather) Matchette, Caylee (Jason) Ballard, Austin (Alandra) Henderson, and Alexandra (Clint) Al-ag; six great-grandchildren, Shyla (Dylan) Conwell, Camden Matchette, Noah Ballard, Beckett Ballard, Crew Ballard, and Turner Henderson, and one great-great-grandson, Deacon Conwell.
Other survivors include one brother-in-law Fred Henderson and three sisters-in-law Virginia Chambers, Julia Jane Faulkner, and Helen Henderson, and many nephews & nieces.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Louise Hawkins and Margaret “Peg” Hawkins, and two brothers-in-law, Tom Henderson and Wendell Chambers.
Jane’s funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Heather Holman presiding. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Joyce A. Barnes
Joyce A. Barnes, 60, of Galveston, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. She was born February 1, 1964, to Lewis Dean Deeds and Delores L. Spencer in Lubbock, Texas. Joyce married Carl W. Barnes in May of 2004 and celebrated over 20 years of marriage together.
Joyce was a homemaker, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed anything outdoors, especially mowing her yard, tending to her chickens, gardening, and crafting. She loved her family with a passion and would do anything for them, especially her grandbabies.
Surviving family include: her husband Carl W. Barnes of Galveston; her children Nathan (Jenna) Lee, Emily (Stephen) Lee, Chris (Amber) Barnes, Nikki Barnes, and Eddie Barnes; and her beloved grandbabies Dillon, Asher, Wyatt, Lily, Elaine, Corbin, Kensley, Callie Jo, Austyn, and Adriana. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Deborah Deeds, Pamela Winans, and Dean Deeds. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Deanie, Rob, and Allen.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Center Community of Faith Church, 1475 E. CR 1125 S. Galveston, Indiana. Funeral services will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Brent Cripe officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery behind the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society in Joyce’s memory.
