David “Dave” Earl Boettjer

David “Dave” Earl Boettjer, 74, Kokomo, passed away at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at his home. He was born on December 18, 1949, in Peru, IN. to late Henry and Bernice (Ramsey) Boettjer. On October 12, 2004, Dave married the love of his life Cindy (Hahn), and she survives.

Dave graduated from Maconaquah High School in 1968. He worked at Chesapeake and Ohio Railway until its closure. Dave was also a valued employee of Doane Keyes Associates, where he retired in 2009. He always had a passion for socializing and feeding his loved ones and ventured to open his own restaurant, Dave’s Pizza. Following retirement, Dave worked part time at Enterprise until 2020. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #78 and Maennerchor, Peru Lodge. Dave was a huge Notre Dame fan, especially hockey and football. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing golf. He loved to watch the grandkids play sports. Dave and Cindy had a passion for traveling, shopping, and finding hidden gem places to eat on their adventures. You could often find the couple playing the odds at slot machines across the country. Dave didn’t know a stranger; he was always willing to help anyone and had a very infectious laugh.

Along with his wife Cindy, Dave is survived by his children, Shaun (Tara Hall) Boettjer, and Brandy (Jason) McClain; children “ish”, Jamie (Dan) McKinney, Jason (Shelly) Hahn, and Justin (Misty) Hahn; grandchildren, Ashton (Josh) Clark, Kennedy McClain, Haden McClain, Brylee Boettjer, Treyden Curtis, Cayden Curtis, Boston Boettjer, Zach McKinney, Emily (Adam) Paul, Matthew (Natalie) McKinney, Mason Hahn, Nolan Hahn, Kamryn Hahn, and Jheriah Wright; great-grandchildren, Indy Clark and Sophie Paul; brother, Fred (Virginia) Boettjer; 30 nieces & nephews; 60 great nieces & nephews; and many great-great nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, three brothers, and his first wife, Carol (Turner) Boettjer.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Heartland Hospice and special friends for all the care and comfort they provided the last few weeks.

A funeral service will be held at Noon Saturday, August 31, 2024, Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Joyce Brooks officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the start of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Following the services, lunch will be provided at the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), 102 W. Markland, Kokomo, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital, Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, or Cops4Kids Lodge #78. Norbert Lee Reed

Norbert Lee Reed, 73, of Walton, passed away 8:53 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Northwoods Village in Kokomo. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on November 7, 1950, the son of the late Gerald and Mary (Burris) Reed. On November 26, 1994, he married Jeanetta Rae Brough, and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2023.

Norbert was a 1969 graduate of Kokomo High School. He served in the United States Army. Norbert worked at PPG, Delco, and Culligan, but later retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was a member of UAW #292 and the National Rifle Association. Norbert enjoyed almost any activity that was outdoors such as mowing, mushroom hunting, and grilling out. He was a music fanatic and listened to all genres of music. In his youth, he was in a band called the Reed Brothers. He taught himself to play drums, piano, harmonica, electric, acoustic, and bass guitars. He liked watching racing and football, especially the Indianapolis Colts. Norbert will be remembered for being a funny, creative man who loved to laugh.

Norbert is survived by his children, Jason (Heather Lanning-Warner) Reed, Shannon Porter, Ashley Crow; grandchildren, Michael Reed, Nicholas Reed, Josh Sturgell, Megan Porter, John Porter, Elora Bush, Will Crow, Conner Crow, Ayden Crow; sisters, Marilyn (Frank) Clark, Dianna Hickey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mary Reed; wife, Jeanetta Reed; siblings, David (Mary) Reed, Delores (Jim) Majors, Norman Reed, Gary Reed, Jeanie Reed, Donna (John) Etherington, Richard Reed, Christine (Jim) Prater, Thomas Reed; nephew, Kevin Prater; niece, Jennifer Relucio.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, IN 46979. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Contributions may be made in Norbert’s memory to the Kokomo VFW.
