Jane Dee Sorrell

Jane Dee Sorrell, 90, of Kokomo, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Brickyard Health Care, Kokomo. She was born on December 14, 1933, in Kokomo, the daughter of John E. and Alvena M. (Lauber) Chapin. On April 11, 1953, she married James K. Sorrell, in Fulton County, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2020.

Jane graduated from Kokomo High School in 1951. She retired from Delco Electronics after 29 years of service as a salaried employee. Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church. In her younger years, she loved to swim and remained active throughout her life. Jane enjoyed working on the farm with Jim, being a homemaker, working puzzles, making stained glass, and game nights. Jane loved gathering with family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Jane is survived by her son, Brad (Beth) Sorrell; grandchildren, T.J. (Sierra) Stonger, Seth (Olga) Stonger, Kallie (Travis) Marley, and Brady (Kailyn) Sorrell; great-grandchildren, Hudson Stonger, Kennedy Stonger, Charlotte Stonger, Ava Stonger, Vivian Marley, Everett Marley, and Lucy Sorrell; brother, Jack (Judy) Chapin; and several nieces and nephews.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, John and Alvena Chapin; and sisters, Mary (Jewil) Causey, and Patricia (Thomas) Hendrix.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, at 1:30 p.m. at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home and Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd. Kokomo. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A dinner will follow the graveside services at the Jeff Stout Community Center in Russiaville. Judy A. (Lynch) Smith

Judy A. (Lynch) Smith, age 80, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo. She was born on September 8, 1943, in Kokomo the late Paul and Hazel (Stuart) Lynch. Judy married Billy J. Smith, and he preceded her in death in 1990.

Judy graduated from Kokomo High School in 1961 and attended Ivy Tech Community College. After her husband passed away, Judy started working at Burger Dairy in Galveston. She really enjoyed working with friends and getting out of the house. Judy was a social person and had many friends she enjoyed spending time with. She enjoyed shopping and traveling. Judy was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

She is survived by her two children, Michael (Pam) Smith and Lyndsey Smith; three grandchildren, Josh, Kelsey, and Katelyn; three great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Stevie Lynch Jr.

Preceded in death is her husband, Billy; brother, Steve Lynch; and her fur-babies, Junior and Emmy-Lou.

There will be a time of visitation for Judy on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 2:30 PM until the time of service at 4:30 PM at Grace Fellowship Church, 2700 South Park Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. Pastor Bill Duncan will be officiating. There will be a burial at Crown Point Cemetery at a later date.



Mary Virginia Grammer

Mary Virginia Grammer, 88, of Frankfort, and previously of Kokomo, passed away at 2:52 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. She was born December 13, 1935, in Wyoming, Illinois, to Elmer and Hazel (Hall) Thurston. On March 27, 1954, she married Robert Earl Grammer, in Elmira, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on September 14, 1996.

Mary graduated from the Illinois High School for the Deaf. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sewing, coloring, watching WWE wrestling and playing Bingo at the Madison County Deaf Club.

Survivors include her children, Clifford E. (Deena) Grammer, David L. (Tonya) Grammer, and Norene L. Robb; eight grandchildren, Kayla (Sam) Horoho, Emily (Jeremy) Shoemaker, Andrew (Stephanie) Grammer, Mary Grammer, David Grammer, Jenny Kanable, Dana Riley, and Dawn Barker; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Elmer Thurston, Jr.; and sister, Doris Stevenson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd, Kokomo, with Pastor James Liebrecht officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Dena Kay Jarrett

Dena Kay Jarrett, age 70, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Charles “Mike” Michael Deaton

Charles “Mike” Michael Deaton, 55, Kokomo, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at his home. He was born October 12, 1968, in Dallas, Texas, the son of the late Roy & Judy (Cloud) Deaton. On June 3, 1989, in Kokomo, he married Edie Dennis who survives.

Mike loved riding his Harley around town and took great pride in his yard. He also loved to help his neighbors with anything they needed help with. Mike cherished the time he spent with his children and loved them very much.

Along with his wife Edie, Mike is also survived by his children, Jessica Deaton, Jocelyn Deaton, Amelia Deaton and Roman Deaton; sister, Raquel Deaton Steel; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his fur baby, “Shirley.”

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; aunt and uncle, Cathy & Roger Foster; in-laws, Homie & Dorothy Dennis; and fur babies, Shaq and Shelby.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville, with Pastor Rick Dennis officiating.
