Sidney Leroy “Sid” Kirtley

Sidney Leroy “Sid” Kirtley, 77, Sharpsville, passed away at 12:15 am Sunday January 21, 2024, at Waters of Tipton. He was born June 23, 1946, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of the late Robert & Marie (Lessig) Kirtley. On June 23, 1983, at the Izaak Walton League, Kokomo, he married Lana Lassiter who survives.

Sid was a 1964 graduate of Sharpsville Prairie High School. After high school, he joined the United States Navy. After completing basic training in San Diego, CA, he was one of a few that was both surface certified and submarine certified. Later in his career, he taught classes to future electricians. Sid was very proud of his time spent in the Navy and has been able to keep in touch with a few of his Navy buddies. He retired in 1986 after 21 years of service.

After Sid retired from the Navy, he went to work for the United States Postal Service in 1988, working in Indianapolis then returning to Kokomo, retiring in 2012. Sid loved spending time with family and fishing with his friends Jim and Ray. He was a Ham Radio Operator and a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League. Sid was also a member of Sharpsville United Methodist Church where he was a certified Lay Speaker for several years.

Sid’s many memberships include the NRA, Fleet Reserve Association, Abou Saad Shriner, Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Eastern Star Center Chapter 108, York Rite College No. 133 Frankfort, Yeomen of York Preceptory No. 15 Frankfort, Naphtali Logan 389 Center, IN, Apperson Council No. 307 Allied Masonic Degrees, Kokomo Commandery No. 36 Knights Templer Kokomo Chapter 104, R.A.M. and the Kokomo Council No. 60 R & S.M.

Along with his wife Lana, Sid is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Janie Kirtley, Sharpsville, and Jerilyn (Steve) Manning, Claypool, IN; brothers-in-law, Glen (Debbie) Lassiter, Tipton, and Greg (Sue) Lassiter, Kokomo; nieces, Andrea Thomas, Missy Lassiter, Jessi Manning, Meg Manning, Stacey Fry, and Heidi DeBard; nephew, Kevin (Christy) Kirtley, along with many great nieces and great nephews.

Sid was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Dave Kirtley.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, January 26, 2024, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Sharpsville Chapel, 204 N. Church Street, Sharpsville, with Pastor Mandie Gould Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Navy and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home with a masonic service at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, due to Lana’s allergies to flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sid’s memory to SUMC Backpack Blessings. Lily M. Hale

Lily M. Hale, 85 of Sharpsville died Monday, January 22, 2024, at her residence. She was born on January 18, 1939, at home in Kokomo to John E. and Mary F. (Sapp) Miller. Lily met her soul mate Dannie L. Hale and they were married on October 2, 1960. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2019.

Lily worked at Delco electronics for many years, retiring in 1997 from production work. She greatly enjoyed utilizing her hands with making items from cross stitch, quilting and stain glass pieces. Over the years her attention turned to her grandchildren’s activities. She attended many basketball games, watching the younger generation grow up.

Lily is survived by her children Phillip Hale, Melissa Hale and Michele Hale all of Sharpsville. She has four grandchildren, Judy Coker (Wayne), Joella Grant (Nick) P.J. Hale (Amber) and Danielle Fulkerson (James). Great-grandchildren include Kyler McFarland (Alica), Hannah Coker, Landon Grant, Ava Coker, Kinley Hale, Jack Coker, Kamden Hale, Kendall Hale, Cameron Fulkerson, Nathaniel Fulkerson and a great-great-grandchild Haven McFarland. Siblings include Donnie Miller of Greentown, Joanne Marks of Greentown, and Patty Poole (Bob) of Blue Springs, MO.

Preceding her in death are siblings and in-laws Phillip William Miller (Carolyn), Myra Leora Plake (Tom), David L. Miller (Ann) and a sister-in-law Betty Miller.

Funeral services will be on Friday, January 26, at 1:00 P.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Markins presiding. Burial will follow at Sharpsville Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until service time.

Vince Daniel Reynolds

Vince Daniel Reynolds, age 33, of Kokomo, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 19, 2024. He was born on July 19, 1990, to his parents, Daniel Reynolds and Melissa (Ripberger) Reynolds.

Vince graduated from Elwood High School in the class of 2009.

He was a bright light in the lives of many. You could always count on Vince to share his amazing smile, and upbeat spirit. He loved his family so much and was very proud of his children. Vince will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Those left to carry on Vince’s legacy of love are his mother, Melissa Reynolds; girlfriend, Sara Boyer; children, Logan Reynolds, Layla Reynolds, Hazel Reynolds, Daisy Reynolds; sister, Angel Reynolds (Marcus Woolever); nephew, Laydon Coons; grandparents, Samual & Mickey Zwiefelhofer, Jim & Betty Reynolds; aunts & uncles, Brandon Reynolds, Toni Reynolds, Lisa Richards (Rob), Marcus Ripberger (Tiffany Johnson), Kerry Bechtel (David), Michelle Lewicki; cousins, Angela (Logan), Brittany, Robbie, Dylan, Dakota, Devin, Malachi, Logan, Abby, and Connor; good friends, Curtis Gross, Roy Spiegel, Jason Nead; as well as the Barnes family.

Vince was welcomed into Heaven by his father, Daniel Reynolds; grandmother, Pam Wyatt; grandfather, Mark Ripberger; great grandparents, Dan & Wanita Barnes.

Gregory K. Ingram

Gregory K. Ingram, 71, of Walton, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, at The Waters of Peru. He was born March 30, 1952, in Logansport, Indiana, to Kenneth C. Ingram and Carolyn Sue (Shelhart) Ingram Winters.

Greg attended Pioneer School Corporation in Royal Center. After high school, he went to work for Elco Industries in setup. He retired from Elco with over 29 years of service. He enjoyed riding his Harley to Brandts in Wabash with his brother Mike and enjoyed drive-in movies with Carol he also enjoyed driving, trap shooting, snowmobiling, and boating. He also enjoyed watching his grandson play football and run track at Lewis Cass. He also helped his brother run lights for his band “Live Wire”. He was an avid sports fan. He loved to watch his favorite sports teams, such as, the Boston Celtics, Chicago Cubs, Indiana Pacers, Notre Dame, and the Indianapolis Colts. IU Basketball was right up there, too. He also enjoyed a good game of golf with his son Dustin.

Surviving family include his son, Dustin Ingram of Walton; grandchildren, Cayde Ingram, Sophia Rush and Parker Rush. One brother, Michael (Constance) Ingram also survives along with his step-dad, Buddy Joe Winters, his ex-wife, Carol Sue Dutchess and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, daughter, Dawn Marie Rush and brother, Larry Ingram.

Currently, no services are scheduled. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Gregory S. Lorenz

Gregory S. Lorenz, 61, of Kokomo, passed away at 8:30 pm Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born May 11, 1962, in Kokomo, the son of Herman Lorenz and Ann Louise (Coady) Cox. On May 24, 2005, he married Deborah “Debbie” (Hulton) Lorenz in Gatlinburg, TN, and she survives.

Greg was a 1980 graduate of Taylor High School. He had worked at Steel Parts for many years before working at Chrysler Corporation for the previous 11 years as a tool maker. Greg was a member of Abundant Life Church. He was an avid golfer, having 3 hole-in-one’s in his lifetime. Greg enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, reading, and loved his rescue dogs.

In addition to his wife Debbie, he is survived by his daughter, Marybeth (Randy) Mongosa; granddaughter, Rayla Mongosa; brother, Steve (Lisa) Lorenz; father, Herman (Lucille) Lorenz; stepfather, Gary Cox; and nephew, Ian Lorenz; along with multiple stepbrothers, stepsisters, nieces, and nephews.

Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Louise Cox; daughter, Brook Ann Lorenz; and mother-in-law, Marjorie Hulton.
