Shirley F. Glassburn

Shirley F. Glassburn, age 73 of Cloverdale, passed away January 3, 2024. She was born October 10, 1950, in Rosebud, Ark., to the late Edgar J. and Lester Emmerline (Pruitt) Boyd. She married George R. Glassburn Dec. 14, 1978, and he survives. She enjoyed outdoor events, traveling, casino trips, playing cards and games with family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Paul Snow of Springfield, VA, Wendy (Chad) Fye, Jamie (Jeremiah) Jackson, Michael (Paige) Glassburn. Grandchildren, Ty Snow, Brooklynn (Camden) Fye, Dylan Fye, Kenadie Jackson, Easton Chambers, Aubree Chambers, Gavyn Glassburn, and Korbyn Glassburn. She is also survived by her brother Darrell Boyd in New Port Richey, Florida. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Wilburn Boyd.

Visitation for Shirley will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 8th, 2024, at 11:00 am, Murray-Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston, Indiana. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time held at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston, Indiana. Burial will follow at the Galveston Cemetery. Dorothy Mae Ice

Dorothy Mae Ice, 96, of Fishers, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. She was born on July 9, 1927, to William and Gertrude (Coe) Donaldson. On May 18, 1946, Dorothy married Emmett Ice in Bicknell, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on August 27, 2010.

Dorothy graduated from Bicknell High School in 1945 and went on to receive her beautician’s license. Dorothy owned her own beauty salon and worked as a hairdresser for over 50 years. She and Emmett loved to travel around in their 5th wheel, for many years, after Emmett’s retirement. Dorothy loved her family and dedicated her life to them.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Rita (William) Grosswiler, of Fishers, IN, and Bill (Carol) Ice, of Northport, FL; grandchildren, Kim Senkus, of Fishers, IN, and Brad Ice, of Kokomo, IN; great-grandchildren, Jake and Dylan Senkus, of Fishers, IN, and Alexis (Braxton) Zirkle, of Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emmett; grandson, Jim Ice; 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Bill Martin, officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12 pm until the time of the service, on Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Albright Cemetery. Stephen Scott “Steve” Ripberger

Stephen Scott “Steve” Ripberger, 75, of Kokomo, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Kindred Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born on March 6, 1948, to William E. and Ruth (Scott) Ripberger. On November 4, 1998, Steve married Cynthia Stitt, and she survives.

Steve was a 1966 graduate of Western High School. In 1967, he went on to serve in the United States Army Reserve. Steve worked on the shipping dock at Haynes International for 17 years. He was a lifetime member of the Kokomo VFW, American Legion, and 40 & 8. Steve loved IU basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and Indy Car; he especially loved Jeff Gordon and attending the Indy 500. Steve loved to fish, cook/grill, shop, and he had a great sense of style. He told some of the best jokes and loved every genre and decade of music there was.

Steve is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cynthia; daughters, Jamie Jo (Chris) Fuller, and Stevie Lea Ripberger; grandchildren, Grady and Colten Fuller; brother, William “Billy” Ripberger; and several nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sherry Lynn Ripberger.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor John Dreyer, officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 am until the time of the service, on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Kokomo VFW and the United States Army. Phyllis Lorraine Talbert

Phyllis Lorraine Talbert, age 101, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023, in Noblesville, IN. Phyllis was born on January 21, 1922 to Clair and Jessie Hartzell in Renton, Pennsylvania. At 18, she moved to Kokomo, Indiana, where she met her future husband, Max E. Talbert. They were married in August 1947.

Phyllis enjoyed cooking, gardening, excelled at painting, but most of all loved dancing and music. She was well known for the young girl who posed with “Old Ben,” the famous Bull in Kokomo, IN, in a WWII photograph that has travelled around the world. Phyllis worked at Haynes Stellite in Kokomo, during WWII, making airplane parts, and later worked at Delco Radio, in Kokomo, for many years, retiring in 1987. She resided in Bloomington, Indiana, and Lake Park, Florida after retirement. Of all her accomplishments in this life, her beaming smile, tenderness of heart, and sweetest spirit will be most remembered.

Along with her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Max E. Talbert, brothers, Clair Hartzell, Jr., Eugene Hartzell, sisters, Ruth Magealson, and Helen McFerran. Also, surviving is sister-in-law, Natalie Talbert Smith. She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly P. Talbert, Jacqueline Talbert, grandson, Sean Owens, granddaughter, Liana Owens, great grandchildren, Mary, Ava, Liam and Obadiah, and great-great granddaughter, Odyssey, and many nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating Phyllis’ life on Saturday, January 20, 2024, with visitation between 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and a funeral service beginning at noon at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 414 W. Jefferson Street, Kokomo, IN. Phyllis will be interred following the in Greentown Cemetery, Greentown, IN. Dwayne E. Hunt

Dwayne E. Hunt, 79, of Kokomo, passed away at 3:12 pm Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on August 20, 1943, the son of the late Emery Hunt and Dortha Miller.

Dwayne graduated from Kokomo High School in 1963. After high school, he served his country in the United States Navy from 1963-1967 where he attained the ranked of FTG 3. He worked at Kingsport Times News as a paper carrier and before that as an assistant collection manager at GAC Finance.

Dwayne is survived by his sister, Deb Hunt, of Gastonia, NC; brothers, Steven Hunt, of Tacoma, WA, Rory Hunt, of Orlando, FL and Darryl Hunt, of Orlando, FL: and his friend, Kennith Cockrell.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Hunt; and life partner Janice Horn.

In keeping with Dwayne’s wishes, no public services will be held at this time. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory have been entrusted with cremation.
