Rita Clair Kuhlman
On Monday, January 1, 2024, Rita Clair Kuhlman, 96, went home to the Lord at 8:09AM. Born March 23, 1927, in Poseyville, Indiana, to John and Rose (Ziliak) Hirsch, Rita attended St. Francis Xavier Church, Poseyville High School and Evansville College. On October 24, 1953, Rita wed Harry N. Kuhlman at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Poseyville. For sixty years, Rita attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Kokomo with her family and actively supported the parish school.
Rita devoted her life to caring for her family with a quiet and steady faith. She was a model of self-sacrifice, charity and wisdom throughout her 96 years which will continue to guide and bless her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rita loved spending time outdoors – raking leaves with grandchildren or growing her cherished vine-ripened tomatoes. She was a passionate sports fan: cheering for the Chicago Cubs and each and every college attended by one of her children or grandchildren. Her generosity, absorbing conversations and energetic smile will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her loving sister-in-law Jane Hirsch, 5 children (Neil Kuhlman, Steve Kuhlman, Fred Kuhlman, Claire Reeder, and Greg Kuhlman), their spouses (Debbie Kuhlman, Maggie Kuhlman, Rita Kuhlman, Galen Reeder and Beth Kuhlman), 14 grandchildren (Kevin Kuhlman, Laura Kuhlman, Patrick Kuhlman, Thomas Kuhlman, Robert Kuhlman, Kelly Simmons, Tyler Kuhlman, Nicole Kuhlman, Matt Kuhlman, John Reeder, Becca Simoneaux, Andrea Reeder, and Grace Kuhlman) and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry, parents, John and Rose, sister, Mary Ann Reising and brothers, Msgr. Clinton, Linus, Charles and Robert Hirsch, and a grandson Mark Patrick Kuhlman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Friday, January 5, 2024, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S 200 West, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Neterer the celebrant. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Thursday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, where the Rosary will be offered at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s memory to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Roberta Carol “Bertie” Mooney
Roberta Carol “Bertie” Mooney, 78, Kokomo, passed away at 1:30 pm Saturday December 30, 2023, at her daughter’s home. She was born June 5, 1945, in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late William & Helen (Miller) Cordonier. On June 30, 1963, in Kokomo, she married Michael P. Mooney who preceded her in death on March 14, 2015.
Bertie attended Arsenal Technical High School and graduated from Kokomo High School in 1963. She had worked for Anderson Abstract-Anderson Land Title, Franklin Miller Co., Memorial Park Cemetery and part time for Kokomo Schools.
Bertie loved to knit, crotchet and tend her flower garden. She also enjoyed card games, board games with family, puzzles and Sudoku. Along with her husband, she was a founder of the Kokomo Quarter Midget Club where she also worked as a timekeeper and occasional announcer. She was also a seamstress and sewed the flag sets for the Quarter Midget Club and the Kokomo Speedway. Bertie’s flag sets were in catalogs and sold across the country to various racetracks.
Bertie was very accomplished at the piano and taught her daughter and several of her granddaughters how to play. She always said she had 3 very loving children and Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior and that’s all anyone needed to know about her. Her family and God were the most important things to her. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Bertie always attended their athletic games, school programs, church programs and had many slumber parties with them.
Bertie is survived by her children, Michael S. Mooney, Monica M. Reed and Diana E. (Marc) Mishler; 7 grandchildren, Katherine (T.J.) Holliday, Ben (Hannah) Mooney, Bethany (Zach) Jamison, Allison (Seth) Barkman, Courtney Reed and Abbi (special friend, David Fulk) Mishler, along with 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Maggie (Danny) Thompson; brothers-in-law, Pat (Gerry) Mooney and Alan (Susie) Mooney, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bertie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; 3 sisters, Marilyn Hoffmann, Ruth Lee and Anne Cordonier; and infant son, Michael P. Mooney, II.
Funeral service will be held at Noon Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson Street, Kokomo, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10-12 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Cillian Lee Dewell
Cillian Lee Dewell was born sleeping at 8:33am on December 29, 2023, after fighting through major pregnancy complications. He weighed 1 pound 12 ounces and was 12 inches long. His loving family are parents Hope Elaine and Reagan Karl Dewell, and his brother Emory Cove Dewell. His grandparents are Jami Lynn and Allen Robert Willson, and Gerlinde Mae and Russell Lee Dewell.
Visitation will be held from 2pm-4pm on Sunday, January 7th, 2024, at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home located at 401 S California St, Galveston, Indiana 46932.

Barbara Kay Haley
Barbara Kay Haley, age 75, of Kokomo, Indiana went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at North Woods Village in Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her parents Truman and Ruby Johnson, and her son Brian Cook.
Barb had 4 sons, Nick Cook, Scott Cook, Brian Cook and Dustin Phillips.
She worked at various places in her life, working hard for her children and family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart and soul. She lost her life too soon, losing the battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Rest in peace until we meet again.
A graveside service for Barbara will be held Monday, January 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery, 50 N & County Rd N 780 E, Greentown, IN 46936.

Georgia Jane Reed
Georgia Jane Reed, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, in Peru, Indiana. Born on June 21, 1951, in Ohio, Georgia's life was a testament to the power of kindness and dedication.
Georgia graduated from Upper Merion High School in 1969, and her entrepreneurial spirit led her to own a motel in New Jersey, where she welcomed guests with warmth and grace. She later brought joy to many through her work in a gift shop, sharing her love for the simple pleasures in life.
A devoted wife to her husband, Robert Reed, Georgia was the heart of her family. She was a cherished mother to Bridget, Roberta, and Chantele, and a loving mother-in-law to Halice Flanigan. Her grandchildren, Jayden, Kayleigh, Isaiah, Tyree, Sophia, and Caleb, will forever hold dear the memories of her gentle spirit. Georgia's sisters, Roberta Rokita, Cindy Houser, and Bonnie Jensen-Giangiulio, will miss her deeply, as she was a constant source of love and support.
Georgia's life was filled with the music of Elvis, which brought her immense joy. Her love for her dogs was unparalleled, and her fondness for Chinese food, banana splits, and cheesecake was well-known. The beach was her haven, a place where she found peace and contentment.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a niece, and a brother-in-law. Her legacy of love, thoughtfulness, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Georgia Jane Reed's memory will be cherished and celebrated, as she continues to inspire us even in her absence.
Barbara Ann Poole
Barbara Ann Poole, 68, Kokomo, passed away at 1:40 pm Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Abbie Hunt Bryce Home in Indianapolis. She was born April 21, 1955, in Tipton, IN, the daughter of the late Willam and Norma (Johnson) Russell.
Barbara graduated from Haworth High School in 1973. She worked as a Security Officer and previously worked at APS (American Protective Services) for 15 years.
Barbara is survived by her son, Christopher Russell; siblings, Janice Creed, Mick Russell, Karen Williams and David Russell, along with many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Brenda Warwick.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, no funeral service will be held at this time. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation.
