Harold Richard “Dick” Gillam

Harold Richard “Dick” Gillam, 87, of Galveston, passed away 10:00 am Thursday December 28, 2023, at his home. He was born in Young America, IN, on April 12, 1936, the son of the late Harold Edward and Evelyn Louise (Tenbrook) Gillam. On June 1, 1958, he married Beverly Grace Hodson, and she preceded him in death on August 16, 2007.

Dick was a graduate of Northwestern High School. He was a longtime farmer and was proud to tell everyone about it. He also worked as a contractor, a meat processor, a bus driver for Northwestern School Corp., Chrysler, and he owned Standard Packing. Dick was a hard-working, stubborn, yet gentle man who had a sarcastic sense of humor. He was blessed with skills to build, renovate, and tinker around the house. He was always looking for ways to help and serve his friends and family. He held church memberships at Alto Road Church of Christ and Upper Deer Creek Church then began attending Fairfield Christian Church. Dick enjoyed drinking his morning coffee and reading the newspaper to be sure his obituary wasn’t printed that day before starting to work.

Dick is survived by his children, Chris Gillam - Nappanee, Peggy Gillam - Greentown, Dean (Teresa) Gillam - Flora, Joyce (Jeff) Hendrix - Greentown, Sherri (Vernard) Johnson - Kokomo; siblings, Tom (Judy) Gillam, Janet (Garnet) Gray; 15 grandchildren and step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Evelyn Gillam; wife, Beverly Gillam; son, Neil Gillam; brother, Jim (Linda) Gillam; sister, Bonnie (Floyd) Conwell; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Gillam.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 pm Thursday January 4, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 am Friday January 5, 2024, at the funeral home, with Pastor Lynn Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden. Contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to Fairfield Christian Church.



Pamela K. Hunter

Pamela K. Hunter, 73, Kokomo, died December 25, 2023, at her home. She was born August 22, 1950, in Kokomo, the daughter of Clifford M. & Amy I. (Ratcliff) Bliss. On April 22, 1987 she married the love of her life, Steven A. Hunter and he preceded her in death February 19, 2016.

Pam graduated from Kokomo High School in 1968. From there she worked several jobs, she worked at Union Bank, Marsh, and most importantly Taylor High School as the " ice cream lady" in the cafeteria. She made friends in all her jobs. She met the love of her life in high school but didn't marry him until later in her life. Marrying Steve in 1987 changed her life, she became a wife, a homemaker, and a best friend to her love. They traveled and fished and enjoyed doing things with all the family.

Pam was a natural caretaker, showing her love for others through her giving spirit. She was known to put others before herself, prioritizing their needs before her own. Her love and kindness will be remembered by her friends and family.

Pam was a generous hostess, welcoming family and friends to parties in her home and hosting family during vacations in Minnesota. She enjoyed fishing with her family and going to car shows with Steve. She loved attending the grandchildren’s events and going to garage sales.

Pam is survived by her children, Kimberly (Don) Peters, Scott (Michelle) Lobeck, Chris Hunter; grandchildren, Jacob Jeffries, Austin Jeffries, Allie (Colin) Byrd, Ella Lobeck, Noah Rexrod; her siblings, Steve (Sara) Bliss, Tricia (Steve) Deafenbaugh and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Mike Lobeck; mother and father-in-law, Dorothy & Rolland “Buck” Carson; brother, Chris Bliss and her nephew, Nathan Deafenbaugh.

A funeral service celebrating Pam’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.
