Sylvia was a true Proverbs 31 woman. She rose every morning before dawn to start her day. After work 8-12 hours at Delco, she came home to fix a bountiful, delicious meal for her family. She loved working in her large garden and canning the produce from it. Her zucchini relish and pear preserves were legendary, but her apple pies were the star of any meal.
Sylvia was a skillful seamstress. At the age of twelve she made her mother a dress, then spent the rest of her life making beautiful clothes. Over her lifetime, she created over 100 hand sewn quilts, which were works of art.
In her fifties, she taught herself cake decorating, enabling her to make her friends and family lovely cakes for every occasion. She loved sharing her creations with everyone she knew. However, what she most valued was her service to God and her church. She helped her sister establish the Church of God in Kokomo. Over the years, she served as clerk and Sunday School teacher.
Although she had to use a magnifying glass, she read her bible every day, even in the last weeks of her life.

Dennis Lee Yoder
Dennis Lee Yoder, 78, passed away on November 1, 2023, due to injuries sustained in a car accident. While his departure from earth was unexpected, we put our trust in God’s perfect timing and celebrate his transition to his home in heaven.
Dennis was born on April 25, 1945, the son of Ralph & Clara Yoder. He married Pamela Jean Baszler on August 14, 1971. They were married for 37 years at the time of Pamela’s passing. Together they raised their children, Aaron, Andrea, and Matthew and welcomed their daughter-in-law, Michelle Kepner Yoder into their family. Over the past eight years Dennis enjoyed sharing life’s adventures with his lady friend, Brenda Rogers. Dennis was also proud to be “grandpa” to Mayli, Makinly, and Macoy Yoder. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and was proud of all their accomplishments.
Dennis loved people and for those of you who spent time with him, you know he was a talker! Dennis knew everyone…eventually. He had a kind heart and helped many people along his journey. His passion in life was farming and he enjoyed raising cattle, with little intention of retiring!
The family would like to invite Dennis’ family, friends, and acquaintances to join us in celebrating his life. The visitation and Celebration of Life service will be held at Howard-Miami Mennonite Church, 3976 East 600 North, Kokomo, IN 46901. Visiting hours will be 2 pm to 8 pm on Friday, November 10, 2023. The family asks that memorial offerings in honor and remembrance of Dennis’ life be made to the Food Pantry Ministry at Morning Star Church, P.O. Box 3505, Muncie, Indiana. Dennis had a personal connection with this community as he shared gifts of canned beef, corn, etc. on many occasions.
