Judith Diane Browning
Judith Diane Browning, 82, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 2, 2023. She was born December 5, 1940, the daughter of Louie N. and L. Faye (Johnson) Browning. Judith was divorced and widowed, deciding to use her maiden name during the last years of her life.
Judith was a 1958 graduate of Forest High School. She worked for PPG until 1965 when she was hired at Delco Electronics, retiring in February of 1993 after 27.5 years of service. During her lifetime Judi enjoyed playing golf, cards with her bridge club, traveling to Arizona to visit her best friend Barbara Brunt, puzzles of all kinds, especially Sudoku, having lunch with her payroll group, and her cousins. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandsons, and loving on the great-grandsons.
Judith gave her life to Christ and was baptized at West Point Christian Church. Later, she became a member of Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo. Until her illness, Judi was active in her church serving in many ways including the jail ministry and the Rescue Mission. More than anything, she wanted her life to be a witness of God’s grace and mercy.
Judith is survived by her children, Gregg (Adrienne) McAfee, Gayle (Dean) McAfee Hicks, and Jacqualyn (Shon Henson) Lavengood; grandchildren, Dustin McAfee, Patrick (Sarah) O’Connor, Zachary (Toni) Shutt, and J. Barbara Ann Boggs
Barb passed through heaven’s gates in the early morning of October 3, 2023. She will be missed dearly.
Barbara Ann Boggs was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky on July 19, 1946, to Hampton and Edra Milam. She was the 4th of six children. Siblings were brother Jerry Milam and sisters Lena Upton, Janice Gross, Nova Milam and Lisa Davis. Jerry, Lena and Lisa preceded her in death. Barb had two children, H. Leon Boggs (Michele) and Michael S. Boggs (Cyndi). She had five grandchildren Blake Boggs (Fiancé Tiffany), Devon Boggs (Meggan), Jennifer Koenig (Kyle), Brennan Boggs (Fiancé Mikayla) and Emma Boggs. She had twelve Great-Grandchildren.
Barb was raised in Richardsville, Ky, just outside of Bowling Green. She graduated from Richardsville High School in 1964. She achieved a Degree in Data Processing at Western Kentucky University. In 1971, Barb and then husband Verlin Boggs moved the family to Kokomo for a better job market. Barb worked at Delco Electronics for 30 years, retiring in 2003. Barb was a hard worker and rarely missed a day of work in her 30 years of service. She built radio semi- conductor boards for most of her career. She was always well dressed as though she was going to church instead of work…as many of her coworkers did back in the day.
Barb was a strong Christian woman that believed strongly in God and the power of prayer. She loved her family dearly and always made sure they attended “somewhere” on Sunday mornings (and most Wednesday nights). The family (for the most part) attended the Church of Christ. She would occasionally slip in a little Holy Spirit teaching at either a Church of God or Assembly of God. She would always cry when she spoke of the Lord and what he had done for her in her life.
Barb struggled with many health issues in her last days that kept her from leaving her home, but through it all she kept the faith that God was in control and that his will would be done in her life. Barb was a very generous person, as she gave to many she thought were struggling financially. She loved to collect old lamps, as did her favorite aunt Opie Bates in Bowling Green Ky. She loved Backgammon, Euchre, and Hand and Foot, and was tough to beat in all three. Although she struggled much of her life with depression, she still found opportunities to have a sense of humor. She would get a thrill out of seeing her grandchildren say and do silly things. She always enjoyed taking regular trips to Bowling Green to see her family. She referred to the area as “back home.”
Barb took her last breath believing strongly in God and that she would have a home in heaven when she left this world. We as her family believe she made it. None of us are perfect, neither was she, but honestly, she did the best she could with the life that God gave her.
A graveside service will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery at 10:30 am, on Friday October 6, 2023, with Pastor Brian Hughes officiating. Stout & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.
