Dale “Skip” Aaron Hunt, Jr.

Dale “Skip” Aaron Hunt, Jr., 73, Russiaville, passed away at 5:09 pm Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at his home. He was born August 4, 1950, in Kokomo, the son of the late Dale & Virginia “Ginny” (DeSchamps) Hunt. He was married to Cathy (Robinson) Hunt from 1980-1988 and they had one son, Benjamin Aaron Hunt.

Skip attended Saint Patrick Catholic Elementary School and was a 1968 graduate of Kokomo High School. He served with the National Guard. He worked for Chrysler and Delco Electronics before becoming the owner and operator of Hunt Salvage Yard and Steel Surplus for over 25 years. After his retirement from the salvage yard, he enjoyed living on a small farm in Russiaville. Skip loved to golf and was a member of the American Legion. Skip was an avid sports fan and he especially enjoyed baseball. He played and sponsored a slow pitch softball team and coached his son Benjamin’s little league team.

Skip is survived by his fiancé, Sheila McKoon; son, Benjamin Aaron Hunt of Indianapolis; Sheila’s children, Wendy (Andy) Vandenbosch and Jody Lashbrook; grandchildren, Eli Vandenbosch, Syanne Lashbrook and Sadie Lashbrook; and the mother of his son Benjamin, Cathy (Robinson) Hunt of Westfield.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry Lee Hunt; and Bradley McKoon, who he thought of like a son.

Special thanks to his dear friend, Richard “Whiskey” Shaw for his care and help through his illness. Also, thanks to Mike Schwartz, Jay Martin, and Bobby Steele, who also provided care.

Funeral service will be held at Noon on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville with Pastor Bill Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Harold Joe Sandlin

Harold Joe Sandlin, 64, Greentown, passed away at 9:50 pm Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Century Villa Health Care in Greentown. He was born February 26, 1959, in Hazard, Kentucky, the son of the late Walter & Georgia (Francis) Sandlin.

Joe was a 1977 graduate of Eastern High School and had attended Ivy Tech Community College. He had worked for Frito Lay for 10 years. In his younger years, he loved to travel and enjoyed life to the fullest, along with his long hair. He was an avid collector of all things and was a great artist who loved to paint and draw. Joe was a devoted caretaker for his mother for 10 years until his illness. He was a kind and gentle soul and loved working with his sister at her eBay business, listening to his record player and surfing the internet. Joe especially enjoyed sitting outside at night listening to the coyotes.

Joe is survived by his siblings, EJ (Brenda) Sandlin, Emma McDowell, Marsha (Jerry) Andreas and Gary Mitchell Jr. (JJ) Sandlin; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; brother-in-law, Vic Seibert; sister-in-law, Debbie Sandlin; and children, Casey Joe Sandlin, Mickey Joe Sandlin and Samantha Jo Sandlin.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jesse James Sandlin; siblings, Pat Seibert and Gary Mitchell Sandlin; brother-in-law, Michael McDowell; and nephew, Donald McDowell.

In keeping with Joe’s wishes, no services will be held. Hasler & Stout Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation.
