Lois Dawn McKean, Norman Allen Aaron, Geraldine Forkner

Lois Dawn McKean

Lois Dawn McKean, 97, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025, at The Barrington of Carmel. She was born April 8, 1927, in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania, to John Herman and Alice Amelia (Sanberg) Anderson. On June 24, 1950, she married Robert E. McKean, in Smethport, Pennsylvania, and he preceded her in death on October 30, 1999.

Lois lived a life marked by dedication to her family and friends, intelligence, and service to her community. She was the valedictorian of her class at Port Allegany High School and went on to earn a business degree from Grove City College. In 1950, she moved to Indiana, settling in Indianapolis before making Kokomo her home in 1969. For 17 years, she served as a secretary for the Northwestern School District of Howard County, retiring in 1992. Her excellence was recognized in 1989 when she was named the Indiana Association of Educational Office Professionals Secretary of the Year. A faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo, Lois volunteered her time generously. She was also an active member of Chapter DY of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Harrison Stars Home Extension Club, and the Devon Woods Home and Garden Club, where her warmth and commitment touched many lives. Lois was an officer and member of countless other community organizations over the years.

She is survived by her five children Thomas M. (Joni) McKean of Carmel, Robert E. (Lori) McKean, Jr. of Kokomo, John A. (Jamie) McKean of Monticello, Jeffrey L. (Dixie) McKean of Indianapolis, and Linda D. (Jon) McKean Modelevsky of Falmouth, Massachusetts. Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who will carry forward her spirit of love and resilience.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington St., Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Cole Daily the celebrant. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Following the burial, there will be a Celebration of Life luncheon at Pastarrific Ristorante, 3001 S. Webster Street, Kokomo. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church or 4:00-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Contributions may be made in Lois’ memory to St. Patrick Catholic Church or the Kokomo Humane Society. Norman Allen Aaron

Norman Allen Aaron, 86, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away March 25, 2025. He was born on October 3, 1938, in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of William Henry and Helen (Deweese) Marie Aaron. Norman proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Delco after 30 years of employment. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed going out West with his brother, William Jr.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Lance (Debbie) Aaron, granddaughter Heather VanMeter, great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Tyler VanMeter, great-great-granddaughters Berkleigh and Violet, and sister June Kay Hobbs.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 52 years LaVera, sons Norman Allen Jr. and Stephen Matthew, and 11 siblings.

Geraldine Forkner

Geraldine Forkner, 79, of Tipton, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at The Waters of Tipton. She was born on April 1, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Morgan) Rogers. In 2001, she married David M. Forkner, who survives her.

Throughout her life, Geraldine dedicated herself to her work in a communications factory in Shelbyville, where she was known for her skills in testing and repairing phones. She took great joy in spending time with her family and found happiness in crafting, gardening, and sewing during her leisure hours.

Geraldine is survived by her loving husband David, her six children Derek Shmitts, Mary Yost, Sherry Tucker, Tina Lawson, Jerri Arias-Garcia, and Robert Pitcock, one sister Linda Isgrigg, one brother Dale Rogers, as well as several adoring grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her three siblings Jimmy Rogers, Ellen Waltz, and Doug Rogers.

A private family graveside service to honor Geraldine's life will be held at Normanda Cemetery, with Rev. Jared Williams presiding over the service.
