Carol J. Reese

Carol J. Reese, 83, of Tipton, passed away at 10:06 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at The Waters of Tipton. She was born in the Beechwood area of Tipton County on April 30, 1941, to Paul O. & Mary (Alley) Reese.

Carol worked at Marsh for 37 years from 1959-1996. During that time, she saw many changes in how groceries are sold as she worked her way up from Cashier to Office Manager. Carol had attended Kempton Christian Church and Rock Prairie Church in Tipton.

She was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School in the Class of 1959. She loved her classmates and the fact that they stayed in close contact throughout the years. One special friend was Judith Roe who called Carol daily and never missed sending a card on her birthday and Christmas.

She loved to cook and bake and was great at both of them and she was also a great seamstress. Carol loved all kinds of puzzles especially Word Search. She loved music; especially the Gaithers, and she attended many of their concerts. She was also a big fan of Elvis Presley.

Those left behind include: one sister, Judy Badgley and husband Mike of Tipton; a nephew, Doug Badgley; and a great-nephew, Joey Badgley. She has many cousins, including a special cousin Diana Young and her daughter, Darlene Young.

Carol was preceded in death by: her parents; a great-nephew, Michael Paul Badgley; and a great-niece, Kaylee Jo Badgley; as well as her favorite cat, Chuck.

A funeral service for Carol will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Webster presiding. Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Memorial donations in Carol’s honor should be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46240.

Carol was a very loving and caring person. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.



Mary Isabel (Farlow) Ransopher

Mary Isabel (Farlow) Ransopher, 112 years of age, formerly of New London, IN, went to be with the Lord at 4:33 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025. She passed at Wesley Manor Retirement Community where she resided for the past 30 years. On December 25, 1912, she was born at home, Farlow Orchard, near New London, IN, the daughter of the late Ed Orlif and Pansy (Thompson) Farlow. On August 28, 1935, she married J. Marland Ransopher, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 2006.

Mary was a 1932 graduate of New London High School. She served as a 4-H leader in Honey Creek Township after her high school graduation until she was married. She was passionate about education as she served as a teacher’s aide and a substitute teacher at Western High School. She taught and held private piano lessons at her home. She was a devoted homemaker and housewife. She prioritized the care of her husband and their four children. Mary was a strong-willed, independent, and tenacious woman. She was a 50-year member of the Better Homes and Garden Club and a member of the United Society of Friends Women. Mary will be remembered for her incredible memory and skill for detailed storytelling. She was a faithful servant and was proud to be a life-long member of New London Friends Church where she was the organist for years.

She is survived by: her children Jane Dunn, Ed (Marilyn) Ransopher, Susan (Ron) Thomas, Tad (Julia) Ransopher; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; brothers Herbert Farlow, Joseph Farlow, Max Farlow, and Bob Farlow; son-in-law Glenn Dunn; and grandchild Randy Ransopher.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at New London Friends Church, 2104 S. County Road 766 W. Russiaville, IN 46979. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church, with Ken Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in New London Cemetery.
