Linda Lou Mouser
Linda Lou Mouser passed away peacefully in Kokomo, Indiana, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, surrounded by family. Linda was born March 24, 1937, in Kokomo, and was married to her devoted husband, Harold, for 64 years before his passing in 2018.
Linda met Harold Mouser in 1954 after, according to him, she was “showing off” with a cartwheel performance in front of the hanger factory where he worked in Kokomo.
Linda was a friendly face to many as a cashier at Marsh supermarket on Washington Street in Kokomo, a role she retired from in the 1990s after more than 20 years of service. She traveled the world on motorcycle with Harold by her side as a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association “Chapter J” from 1978 to 2014. Linda was a devoted Christian and attended Victory Church of God, where she was a song leader for several years. She loved Jesus and was always known as the best singer in the choir. Her hobbies included a love for shoes, Shirley Temple, and The Wizard of Oz, and her doll collection was unmatched. But her proudest achievement in life was her family. Linda may have given birth to four children but played an important role in shaping the lives of so many more, including 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was always there for her family no matter what.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband Harold Mouser; parents Pansy Eckles and Paul Quinn; sister Gloria Johnson; and brothers Robert “Red” Quinn, Ronnie Quinn and Junior Quinn. Charles Raymond Young
Charles Raymond Young, known affectionately to friends and family as Chuck, embarked on his final adventure on November 6, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on May 31, 1952, in Kokomo, Indiana, Chuck's journey began as the spirited son of Oscar Donald Young and Dorothy Mae (Wallace) Young, and he carried that spirit with him throughout his life, spreading joy and laughter in his wake.
Chuck was a man who knew the value of hard work and the thrill of the open road. After graduating from Haworth High School, he turned wrenches like a maestro, eventually retiring as a Diesel Mechanic before revving up his own business, Young's Excavating. He wasn't just moving dirt; he was sculpting the earth with the finesse of an artist and the grin of a man who loved every minute of it.
His interests were as varied as the parts of an engine. Chuck was an avid fisherman, casting his line with the hope of the big catch and the certainty of a peaceful heart. Hunting was another passion, though the deer probably knew him more for his hearty chuckles than for his aim. Motorcycles were his steed of choice, and he rode with the freedom of a man unbound by the mundane. If it had an engine, Chuck could make it purr, and if it had a problem, he could probably tell you a joke to make you forget about it.
Chuck's love for his family was as vast as the open road. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Young, who shared in both the mileage and the laughter. His legacy continues through his children: Michael Young (Ashley), Shelly LaPorte (Harvey Carlson), and Shannon Young (girlfriend Dora Estrada). His grandchildren—Michael, Ashton, Jada, Steven, Alicia, Amber, Faith, Skydarius, and Zoey—will carry on his tales of adventure and his knack for mischief. And let's not forget the newest addition, great-granddaughter Ava LaPorte, who had just begun to learn the ropes from her legendary great-grandpa.
Chuck's brother, Oscar Donald Young II (Sandy), will no doubt miss their banter and the way Chuck could light up a room with his wit. His nieces and nephews have lost a true ally in the art of pranks and laughter.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his siblings Faye Glassburn and Donna Catt, who have probably already heard a few of his new jokes on the other side.
Chuck was a man of many words—thoughtful, intelligent, and spirited. He was the kind of guy who could fix your car and your mood at the same time. He loved to read, not just manuals and maps, but stories that took him to worlds as vast as his imagination. And when it came to playing cards, he played his hand with the same strategy and cheeky grin that he approached life.
To say Chuck will be missed is an understatement. He was the kind of man who left an imprint on your heart and probably a few grease stains on your driveway. His laughter was infectious, his knowledge vast, and his heart as big as his love for anything with wheels.
So, here's to Charles Raymond Young, Chuck, a man who lived life full throttle, loved with a generous heart, and always had a joke up his sleeve. As we say our goodbyes, let's rev our engines one last time for a man who never stopped moving forward and always found the joy in the journey. Chuck, you've taken the checkered flag, and while the race is over, the stories of your escapades will continue to fuel the laughter and love you left behind. Keep on riding, Chuck. Keep on riding.
