Welcome Table Christian Community, a faith organization focused upon inclusion and worship, recently launched with Café Wednesdays. This weekly get-together takes place at the Starbucks in the Markland Plaza from 2-4 p.m. and provides an opportunity for Christian fellowship, prayer, and support.

The response to Café Wednesday was strong, and Welcome Table now has more than 100 followers and more than two dozen participants in its prayer and support group. Due to that response, Welcome Table has added Café Mondays, also held at Starbucks in the Markland Plaza, each week from 5:30-7 p.m., beginning Feb. 10.

“This is a ‘stop in and learn more about Welcome Table Christian Community’ opportunity for those in our surrounding area,” said Rev. Dr. Al Adams, the founding pastor of the community. “This week we will add Cafe' Mondays for those who are more likely to come in the evening. The love of Jesus is on the loose!”

Welcome Table also is establishing a Zoom account for virtual meetings and worship, which will take place as needed or desired. And the group intends to begin larger worship gatherings – called Soul Café – by Easter Sunday, April 20, at 4 p.m. The gatherings will take place at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, initially, though the search is on for an affordable, permanent worship locale.

“Please hold us in prayer as we seek a place for informal, weekly gatherings where we can share food, worship, and plan ways to invite, welcome, include, and value even more of God's beloved, precious children to the Welcome Table of Christ Jesus,” said Adams.
