Posh Salon celebrates landmark anniversary

Most businesses fail within the first two years in operation. Those who thrive do so because of many factors: vision, drive, opportunity, education, and a little luck.

Most of all, a successful business connects with its clients and the community. Such is the case with Posh Salon, which is celebrating 20 years in operation along East Markland Avenue.

A large group of stylists, customers, and well-wishers from the community gathered at Posh Salon on Oct. 7, to commemorate the milestone anniversary. Lindsay Pyle, president and founder of Posh Salon, greeted the crowd and spoke briefly about the business' history.

"We started in a little, tiny house and had a big vision and a big dream that started with seven of us," said Pyle. "Today, we've grown to 48 stylists. But actually, we've grown as a family. I think that's bigger than just being of service to people in the community.

"But we love getting to be a part of this community. We meet people where they're at. We're a part of marriages, miscarriages, and big life events that we get to share with them. That's a beautiful thing."

Pyle became a hairstylist in 1998 and founded Posh Salon in 2004. She is a Redken Certified Haircolor Specialist and Design Specialist. She has positioned the salon not only to lead in the local community, but also to educate and develop the next generation of stylists.

She is joined by Perri Acord, Stephanie Wrightsman, and Tia Green in managing the business. All of the management team holds certifications in styling and design, and they encourage their employees to further their education in the field.

That dual commitment to staff and community is a key factor in Posh Salon's longevity, Pyle noted. And it is something that she intends to continue.

"I am most thankful that, after all these years, we are a strong team who grows together," said Pyle. "I'm really excited for the next 20 years."

The 20th anniversary get-together was capped by a ribbon cutting with Mayor Tyler Moore and the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce.
