If losing builds character, the young men on the Taylor Titans' varsity football team built enough last week to fill their quotas for the rest of the season. They were utterly dominated by the Carroll Cougars, 35-0, at home on Fri., Sept. 6.
Unfortunately, the contest was so one-sided there isn't much to celebrate in Taylor's camp. Junior quarterback Javionne Harris managed just 69 yards in the air on 6-22 passing, which included a pair of interceptions
The ground game fared no better. Senior tailback Jalyn Wooten was handed the ball nine times but found a wall of white and blue standing in his way. He managed just 15 yards rushing to lead Taylor. Harris added 11 yards in desperate scrambling.
Sophomore receiver Keyshawn Galloway provided the only noticeable offense on the evening for Taylor, racking up 48 yards on three catches, including a 26-yard catch which was the singular highlight of the evening.
Now sitting at 2-2 on the season, Taylor hosts the winless Eastern Comets this Friday night. Eastern's record may be a bit deceptive, however. The Comets have put up powerhouse offensive numbers this year, only to be outgunned. Running back Isaiah Pickett has rushed for more than 170 yards and a touchdown in each of Eastern's last two contests.
