Music festival filled western Howard Co. with bluegrass, Aug. 15-18
The Winding Creek Music Festival returned to enthusiastic and welcoming crowds in western Howard County. The four-day event featured bluegrass music, family activities and even an 5K through the forest in the 2024 iteration, held Aug. 15-18.
The festival expanded to a fourth day this year, bringing new activities and events to the schedule. An enchanted forest walk and the 5K run were perhaps the most significant additions, anchoring a Sunday “Gospel Day” to close out the weekend.
Before that happened, musical enthusiasts were treated to performances by “Nothin Fancy” and The Baker Family, along with loads of other regional bluegrass bands. And those in attendance had plenty of opportunities to learn and play instruments like the banjo, mandolin, and guitar; even getting a chance to jam with some of the pros in the process.
