Effective Friday, July 19, the Howard County Highway Department will close Dixon Road from south of its intersection with Markland Avenue to Defenbaugh Street for a bridge repair. The closure will last two weeks. According to Howard County Highway Superintendent Amber Tolle, the roadway should reopen by Aug. 2.

Access to all businesses between Markland Avenue and Defenbaugh Street will be maintained throughout the closure.

The detour for this closure will be to the west of Dixon via Sycamore/SR 22 to Malfalfa/CR 300 W to Defenbaugh/CR 50 S. Please see the attached map for the Detour Route Plan.

“As always, this is the plan as of today, and construction often comes with a moving target,” said Tolle. “I will update any changes to these dates, however, the contractor is contractually obligated to reopen the roadway within two weeks of closure.”
