Dozens of festive fish out of water flocked to the Kokomo Family YMCA on March 29 for a Glo Swim party. The pool lights were dimmed, and glowing balls, pool noodles, and other playful floatables were distributed for additional fun.

The evening also featured a giant inflatable movie screen, where viewers could enjoy "The Sandlot" on the big screen.

Glo Swim is just one of a boatload of fun family events the YMCA hosts every month. Upcoming events include:

Blood Drive - The YMCA partners with the American Red Cross to hold a blood drive on Mon., April 15, from noon until 4 p.m. Donations will be accepted in the YMCA's Community Room. Schedule a time to donate by registering in advance at www.redcrossblood.org.

Healthy Kids Day - A fun, free event for the entire community, the Kokomo Family YMCA will open its doors on Sat., April 20, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to inspire healthy habits in kids and families.

The event will include vendors booths, interactive demonstrations, and plenty of fun activities. S0ome of the activities include kids' hip-hop, an inflatable obstacle course, free haircuts, an ice cream truck, cornhole, a pop-up adoption clinic by the Kokomo Humane Society, a Wibit water obstacle course, face painting, and more.

Spring Sports - Registration is open now for youth sports programming in April and May, including Centipede Soccer, T-Ball, and a youth basketball clinic. Register by visiting: https://operations.daxko.com/Online/5014/ProgramsV2/Home.mvc

Summer Camp - Registration is open now for the YMCA's Summer Camp. Taking place at historic Camp Tycony on the west side of Kokomo, kids will have opportunities to explore nature with hiking trails, ponds, wooded areas and more. They will discover new talents, try new activities, gain independence, and create lasting friendships and memories, all in a safe environment.

Summer Camp starts May 28, and camp spots fill quickly. Register by visiting: https://operations.daxko.com/Online/5014/ProgramsV2/Search.mvc?category_ids=CAT27&fbclid=IwAR1_2OfXHA5lqNFetizkrAMa1EtMttEGDwFzx_5Ieypy9IVJwpjDOP7MX_g_aem_AUD-eE7Jo6KpXQ4_h91Hfbpv3Jbitcs3pGWCgArCxIQyzSn8KaKCfhnHHAXfn73q7cKpp0arlNUrIltqp2tztguw

The YMCA also is currently conducting a "Pay the Day" membership deal. Each day in April, the joiner fee for a YMCA membership reflects the date on the calendar. Those joining the YMCA on April 6 will pay just $6 to join, compared to the typical $50 joining fee. That number goes up with each passing day, so joining earlier saves more.
