From the Committee to Elect Mike Katcher
(Editor’s note: The following is a paid advertisement from the Committee to Elect Mike Katcher. It does not necessarily reflect the views of the Kokomo Lantern.)
To gain support for 2012 annexation of peripheral districts and 31 to Kokomo, the city promised trash and recycling pickup, storm and wastewater drains, hydrants, lights and water service. They delivered on trash, recycling and lights. Now, they are pulling back on recycling in a clumsy, garbled manner.
No transparency. What happened to storm and wastewater sewers? Water service? The Republicans are in charge now, but they have a secret agenda. What is that agenda? They won’t tell us.
Forget the commitments. The recycling fee is $10/month. Why not charge the multibillion-dollar factory on the north side instead of their 30-year tax abatement. After all, they live here like the rest of us.
Fees hit rich and poor alike. That’s why Republicans like them. It’s a rich person’s benefit. Let’s try to eliminate such fees as trash, recycling, and senior fees to State parks, and fees for hunting and fishing licenses.
Many residents have complained to Karickhoff about freeway 31 noise. I will try to pry loose funds for a sound wall or other barrier to reduce freeway 31 noise. Unlike Republicans, I believe in transparency and will run on these issues.
