High school art hits IU Kokomo

Artists from eight area high schools featured in new exhibition

The creativity of nearly 70 north central Indiana high school juniors and seniors is showcased in the Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery’s 27th Annual High School Art Exhibition.

The exhibition continues through Wednesday, April 2, in the Gallery, located in the IU Kokomo Library Building, 2300 S. Washington St.

The exhibition includes work by students from eight schools, in media including drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media, and more.

Cici Robinson from Lafayette Jefferson High School won first-place honors with her watercolor on handmade paper, In the Grass. Adaline Wilburn from Lafayette Jefferson, was awarded second place for her crochette, Venus. Third-place honors went to Emma Bone from Northfield High School for her ink work, Urban Defined.

Honorable mentions were awarded to Odubena Tobi from Peru High School and Mandorallyn Robertson and Brenda Macias-Pacheco from Lafayette Jefferson.

Tipton High School: Arabelle Capes, Lucy Lightfoot, Alliah Moore, Savana Morris, Adam Naden, McCartney Sherard, Lorelai Tragesser, and Taylor Turner

Western High School: Tekasvi Basraon, Madison Davis, Emily Dinn, Henley Harmeson, Jillian Harris, Kyler Norman, Sydney Ousley, and Shyla Whittington

The exhibition is free and open to the public in the Gallery from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The Gallery is closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Visitors are invited to vote for the People’s Choice award winners by ballot available at the Gallery’s front desk. The winner will be announced in early April.
