Acclaimed funk-fusion band Wurk has been busy on the road to promote their newest single “Song for Squares.” They completed the Minnesotan leg of their tour and will visit The Coterie in Kokomo on Sat., Nov. 2.
The energetic track first was released exclusively on Oct. 18 on Bandcamp and their own website, then will be released on every streaming platform Oct. 25. To celebrate the anticipated release, Wurk will headline at The Coterie. Concertgoers can expect nearly three hours of high energy funk, rock, and jam with the underlying constant of riffs and groove.
Wurk will be dressed to celebrate Halloween and invites everyone to bring their favorite costumes or come just as they are. The event takes place on Nov. 2. Doors open at 8 p.m., with music starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 day of show.
Wurk is a 6-piece funk-fusion group which formed in Madison, WI in 2016. Inspired by Umphrey’s McGee, Snarky Puppy, Lettuce, Phish and many others, their innovative original songs and ambitious interpretations of popular covers offer an impressive blend of jazz fusion, prog rock, jam rock and more, all with the consistent underlying grooves of funk.
