Art was in the air, on the walls, sitting on tables, and adorning bodies all over downtown last week as First Friday celebrated the creativity of the community with an art-themed event.
The monthly block party in the heart of Kokomo drew a lively crowd on Sept. 6, with booths along sidewalks filled with various works of the hand-crafted variety.
But the epicenter of this artistic explosion took place at the Kokomo Art Association's Artwork Gallery on North Main Street.
A handful of local artists, all hailing from Howard County, put their works on display. The walls inside Artworks were covered with the creative pieces, and the Artist Alley drew a crowd as the creators explained the processes behind the finished products.
The works will remain on display through Sept. 27. For those who want to get an in-person look at the works, Artist Alley is accessible at all times, while Artworks Gallery is open from noon until 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
First Friday is a program organized and presented by First Friday Kokomo, a division of the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance.
