Center Township of Howard County recently held its annual Community Expo, which took place on June 13. The free event serves as a vital platform to highlight more than 30 local services and resources.

According to Center Township Trustee Drew Durham, the Community Expo is aimed at increasing awareness and accessibility of the many services that can significantly impact the lives of local residents. People were able to directly engage with various service providers and community agencies in a welcoming and informative environment.

This year, Center Township teamed up with the Food Finders Food Bank Box Program, which featured walk-up food distribution for more than 400 people. Durham said the distribution is evidence of Center Township's commitment to address food insecurity in the community. The distribution also featured essential non-food items such as soap and deodorant.

Center Township also fired up the grill to serve hot dogs to those in attendance. Those in attendance simply needed to pick up a chip at one of the many vendor booths to redeem for a free lunch.

The Center Township Community Expo was made possible by the sponsorship of Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union and Meijer.
