Kids from the Lafayette Park neighborhood and across the city gathered at the schoolyard on July 3 as the Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department teamed up with the Kokomo Fire Department for some water-spraying fun.

Featuring an enormous "slip-and-slide" on a giant tarp, the event quickly attracted a crowd of kids ready for a good soaking. And they weren't disappointed. The fire department has constructed a water spray frame that shoots in all directions.

And if that didn't douse the kids enough, firefighters stood by with a fire hose to finish off any dry spots the frame might have missed.

The water spray events take place every Wednesday at parks throughout the city and are free to the public. There are two more scheduled water spray days this summer, each running from 1-3 p.m.

On July 10, the water spray moves to Jackson Morrow Park, and on July 17, the season finishes with a stop in Highland Park.
