On Oct. 22, 2024, the Kokomo Police Department, along with the Howard County Indiana Department of Child Services, was notified of a possible child molest occurring in the 900 block of North Washington Street.

On Oct. 29, 2024, a warrant for one count of Child Molest was issued for 53-year-old Steven J. Nelson of Kokomo. The warrant was issued out of Howard Superior Court IV. At 3:40 p.m. on Oct. 29, Nelson was placed into custody near the intersection of Boulevard and Plate Street. He was transported to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center. Steven Nelson was currently on bond for a previous unrelated molest case.
