Martha “Marty” Marie Slabaugh
Martha “Marty” Marie Slabaugh, 73, of Kokomo, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent – Kokomo. She was born on May 3, 1951, in Kokomo, the daughter of Robert and Helen Rodkey. On July 14, 1973, at Main Street Church of Christ in Kokomo, she married Joseph F. Slabaugh, and he survives.
Marty graduated from Taylor High School in 1969. She went on to attend Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Missouri. Marty worked as an Associate at Don Lowery Lanes/Heritage Lanes for over 40 years. She loved to cook, bake, make crafts, and work in her flower garden. Marty loved the holiday season, watching Hallmark movies, especially White Christmas, and supporting We Care. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Marty was a member of Judson Road Christian Church where she held multiple duties and also helped with VBS.
Along with her husband of 51 years, Joseph Slabaugh, she is survived by: her children Michael (Deb) Slabaugh, and Brad (Kasey) Slabaugh; grandchildren Ashlynn Slabaugh, Stark Slabaugh, and Mitchell and Braxton Bostic; siblings Fred (Sheri) Rodkey and Dean (Tracey) Rodkey; sister-in-law Sue (Jamie) Garber; and several nieces and nephews.
Marty is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Helen Rodkey and sisters Cindy Rodkey and Nancy Rodkey.
A funeral service celebrating Marty’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Judson Road Christian Church, 2006 W. Judson Rd, Kokomo, with Pastor Gary Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd. Kokomo, and an hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Program at Heritage Lanes, or Ascension Foundation for Oncology Center.
