Doris I. Minglin

Doris I. Minglin, 94, of Kokomo, passed away on January 10, 2025. She was born on November 19, 1930, in Rossville, Indiana, to the late Wilbur Garrison and Alice (Cameron) Garrison. On June 24, 1955, she was married to Ivan Minglin, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Gordon of Tucson, Arizona, and Gail of Russiaville, Indiana, three grandchildren, Jason, Kristina, and Lisa, and many great grandchildren.

Dorris graduated from Rossville High School in 1948 where she played the flute in the woodwind quartet and was a varsity cheerleader. She worked at the Clinton County bank in Frankfort for a time and then worked at the Haynes Community Federal Credit Union from which she retired. Ivan and Doris traveled extensively, having visited many other countries, gathering many souvenirs and many fond memories.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, IN, with Galen Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers that condolences be sent to Sunset Memory Gardens.



A. Frances Hafley

A. Frances Hafley, 95, of Kokomo, passed away on January 11, 2025, at 6:30 PM at North Woods Village. She was born on November 22, 1929, in Gravel Switch, Kentucky, to the late Isaac Clinton and Ethel May (Crowe) Cook. She married Henry Howard Hafley on January 31, 1947, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2018.

Frances was a nurse's aide for many years and retired from St. Joseph Hospital. She was a past member of First Assembly of God Church. She loved the Lord with her whole heart. Frances enjoyed gardening in her yard, canning food, and camping.

Surviving are her three daughters, Linda McPike, Cathy Wilson, and Kristi (Dan) Groves; four grandchildren, Jill (Brad) Name, Ashley (Jesse) Crites, Katie (Groves) Brown, and Bradley Wilson; seven great-grandchildren, Haley Name, Mac Name, Karley Groves, Madilyn Cheesman, Aubrey Gibson, Rudy Valenzuela, Anndria Gibson, and Jonas Groves; two great-great grandchildren, Emmett and Elena Valenzuela; brother, Frank (Janice) Cook; sister, Louise Raley; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death is her loving husband of 71 years, Henry Howard Hafley, and her siblings, Roy Cook, Cecil Cook, Catherine Girtley, Howard Cook, Marie Mills, Clarence Cook, Lester Cook, Aileen Egbert, and Lillie Mae Shannon.

There will be a committal service for Frances on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, Chapel of Peace, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Ind. Pastor Terry Russell will be officiating.



Katherine “Kathy” Louise (Hjelmeland) Winburn

Katherine “Kathy” Louise (Hjelmeland) Winburn, 63, passed away 12:30 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2024, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. On February 6, 1961, she was born in Clovis, New Mexico, the daughter of the late Harold R. and Linda C. (McCord) Hjelmeland. On July 25, 1980, she married William Winburn, and he survives.

Kathy was a 1979 graduate of Kokomo High School. She received a Secretarial Certificate from the Indiana Business School in 1980. In 2009 she achieved an Associate’s Degree in Medical Billing from Ivy Tech. She retired from Hopebridge in 2022. Kathy was the most caring, selfless, and generous lady. She was the ultimate caretaker and always looked for ways to put others before herself. She was a mother figure to so many more children than just her own. Kathy was passionate about caring for animals too. She enjoyed shopping trips, crafting, and painting. She was a faithful member of Crossroads Community Church, where she led several small groups. She recently attended Abundant Life Church.

In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by her children, Jachob Winburn, Amanda Randolph, Lesly (Aaron) Schlueter, Karla (Boston) Woolley, Allan Winburn; siblings, Robert (Misty) Hjelmeland and Robin (Terry) Biggs; and grandchildren, Alex Bourff, Zach Bourff, Trystyn Randolph, Chloe Randolph, Kairi Randolph, Draven Randolph, Tommy Schlueter, Hailey Schlueter, and Jasper Winburn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Thelma “Granny” Winburn.

A Celebration of Life will be held later. Stout & Son Funeral Home – Russiaville Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
