Michael Don Hinds

Michael Don Hinds, 76, of Windfall died Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on July 4, 1948, to Don Henry and Harriett Helen (Emehiser) Hinds. On November 13, 1971, he married the love of his life, Melanie Jane “Janie” VanHorn. They spent 52 years together until her death in 2023.

Mike was a salt of the earth kind of guy. Most people would know him as the manager of the Farm Bureau Fertilizer plant in Sharpsville. Mike was a quiet observer and good listener which allowed him to provide good advice on many issues. He was a member of the West Street Christian Church. Through his wife and daughter, he was involved with the 4-H Fair where he served on the Fair Board for several years. Mike enjoyed watching the I.U. Basketball games and supporting the Hoosiers. He was an Army soldier, proudly serving his country in Viet Nam. Mike had a strong commitment to family. He greatly loved his wife, daughter, and grandchildren and would spend countless hours with them and their activities.

Survivors include his daughter Andee Sznewajs and husband Matt of Edina, Minnesota; grandchildren Sophia, Will and Ben, and a brother-in-law Dick Bowlby. He was preceded in death by his siblings Sherry Gasho, Emalie Bowlby, David Hinds, Karen Kilfoil and George Hinds.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Cass Sparks presiding. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Windfall. Hope Ann Davis

Hope Ann Davis, 62, Kokomo, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born on April 8, 1962, in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of the late Frederick and Evelyn Armstrong. She married Jay Davis in Kokomo on April 24, 1991, and he survives.

Hope graduated from Kokomo High School in 1980 and attended Ivy Tech Community College. She worked for Bona Vista until 2012 as a Home Support Supervisor. Before Bona Vista, Hope had also worked for Howard Community Hospital Psychiatric Services, Kokomo School Corporation, First National Bank & Trust, GMAC Mortgage, and Moore Title & Escrow. Hope cherished time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren whom she loved so much.

The family would like to thank the staff at Community Physician Network, Dr. Anil Ranginani, Dr. James Downing, Dr. Timothy Gatewood, and Christina Grimm, NP, the progressive care unit at Community Howard, Paradigm Health, and Rotech of Kokomo, for their wonderful care.

Along with her husband Jay, Hope is survived by her daughters, Kacie (Jared) Sholty of Aiken, SC, and Allyson (Alex) Clark of Kokomo; grandchildren, Alexis Sholty, Mayson Sholty, Hanna Clark, and Haley Clark; and stepmother, Susanne Armstrong; and special cherished friends, Maryann Benedict, Casey Petras, and Tina Bodem.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Anthony James Richeson, and brother, James Armstrong.

Jackie “Jack” Wayne Ford

Jackie “Jack” Wayne Ford, 89, of Kokomo, passed away 12:38 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on April 27, 1935, the son of the late Charles and Sylvia (Mote) Ford. On June 20, 1954, he married Barbara Evelyn Smith, and she preceded him in death on February 25, 2017.

Jack was a 1953 graduate of Kokomo High School. He served for more than 30 years at Haynes International in the Maintenance Department until his retirement. He was a jokester with a goofy demeanor and an amazing sense of humor. He was a social butterfly who never knew a stranger. Jack was a faithful member and Trustee of Fairview Baptist Church where he was a charter member of Cowboy Church. He was gifted at working with his hands, especially as a mechanic who could fix anything. Jack was passionate about bluegrass music and playing his banjo. He was a member of the Central Indiana Bluegrass Association. He enjoyed camping and attending bluegrass festivals. Jack cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the best G-Pa to them.

Jack is survived by his children, Terrea (Marcial) Flores, Rick (Brenda) Ford; siblings, Kenneth Ford, Linda Ousley, Dennis Ford; grandchildren, Stephanie Nycole (Ethan) Michael, Barbara Jeanette (Andy) Kieszkowski, Avahleia Lynn Flores; great-grandchildren, Landon Michael, Reese Michael, Crew Michael, Holden Kieszkowski, Mara Kieszkowski; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Jeffrey Wayne Ford; and siblings, Foister Ford, Tom Ford, and Bob Ford.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Fairview Baptist Church, 2108 E. Vaile Ave., Kokomo, IN 46901. Celebration of Life will begin 10 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2024, at the church, with Pastor Steve Sherwood officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden. James Themon Webster

James Themon Webster, 91, Kokomo, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born November 21, 1933, in Winfield, Alabama, the son of the late Robert S. and Pearl Estella (Kirkley) Webster. On August 27, 1955, he married the love of his life, Ivonne Long, in Tipton, Indiana. Together, they built a life filled with love and family.

James proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Following his military service, he dedicated 31 years to Stellite/Haynes International before retiring in 1986. A man of faith, James was a devoted member of Fairview Baptist Church. In his free time, James found joy in gardening and cherished spending time with his family during the holidays. His warmth and love created lasting memories for those closest to him.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Ivonne; his children, Michele Lynn Scott, Jimmy Neil (Mindy) Webster and Vanessa Lee (Ryan) McClish; grandchildren, Jamy Wisher, Chad Abney, Cady Hopkins, Jacob Hopkins, Destinee Scott, Desiree Scott and James Webster; and great-granddaughters Aubrey Smith, Bailey Smith, Stella Bowley, Oakley McBay, and Isla Bundy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Virginia Webster, Arlis D. Webster and William B. Webster.

A private graveside service will be held in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Steve Sherwood officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to Fairview Baptist Church, 2108 E. Vaile Ave., Kokomo, IN 46901. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
