Leo Francis Leger

Leo Francis Leger, 85 of Kokomo, IN, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born October 23,1939 to Leo Leger and Flossie Leger in Frankfort, Indiana. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1958 and then went to enlist with the Army Reserve.

Leo worked 20 years at Continental Steel and went on to work at Chrysler for 32 years, retiring at the ripe age of 83 as a Millwright. He was also an entrepreneur, owning multiple businesses throughout the years where he met many friends. He enjoyed playing pool and “shooting the breeze” all over town, and in his younger years you could find him on the dance floor on weekend nights. He also enjoyed playing euchre with the same euchre club for 60 years. He was proud of his friends and the commitment they had to a lifelong friendship. The things he enjoyed the most was time spent with his friends and family. He always looked forward to hearing from all of his friends and making everyone smile. Leo lived a life full of generosity and compassion.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Leger, who in his words, “made his world go ‘round,” a brother, Bing Leger, his children, Tony (Katrina) Leger, Shannon (Marcus) Whitehead, Melissa (Kyle) Wilson, Dustin (Tara) Gibson, Tessa (Deandre) Moore, and Stan Rombold, grandchildren, DJ Wise, Collin Wise, Sebastian Leger, Keegan Gatlin, Raigan Leger, Braden Rombold, Cameron Rombold, Elijah Moore, Devin Moore, Knox Gibson, Kambyll Gibson, Jabien Moore, Deandre Moore Jr., and Lathan Wilson, as well as great-grandchildren, Kylen Gatlin, Ariyah Rombold, Brynlee Gatlin, and Luna Wise.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Linda Lou Leger and daughter Camala Leger in 1971, his parents, brother John Leger, sisters Frieda Rivers and Maxwell Albaugh.

Leo brought laughter and guidance to many and lived by the mottos of, “Smile and say nice things” and “Always have love and kindness.” In the famous words of Leo, “Say Goodbye, John Boy!"

Services for Leo will be held at Hillside Missionary Baptist Church: 125 N. 1220 W. in Kokomo on Monday, December 9, 2024. Gathering of friends and family will take place from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Services will begin at 4 p.m. with Military Honors.

Janis Faye Bergman

Janis Faye Bergman, 80, of Kokomo, passed away on November 30, 2024, at her home. She was born on November 3, 1944, in Douglas, Arizona, the daughter of Vasco and Inez (Meyers) Kitts. On March 30, 1963, she married Robert C. Bergman, and he survives.

Janis graduated from Kokomo High School in 1963. She enjoyed antiquing, art collecting, boating on Lake Cumberland, and traveling with her sister. Janis loved her grandchildren and her family. She attended Christ Lutheran Church.

Along with her husband Robert “Bob” Bergman, she is survived by her children, Todd (Julie) Bergman, and Julie (Jerry) Johnson; grandchildren, Ali Bergman, Nicholaus Bergman, Lucy Bergman, Ella Bergman, Jacob (Mimi) Bergman, and Jessica (Tim) Owsley; sister, Sandy (Kenny) Fisher; and nieces, Jenny (Clay) Miller, and Lori Malone.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Vasco and Inez Kitts.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Greg Reed officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Janis’s name to Christ Lutheran Church.
