Mark R. Greenwood
Mark R. Greenwood, 60, of Holiday, FL, and formerly of Kokomo, IN, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024. He was born January 11, 1964, in Rushville, IN, to Robert J. and Patsy K. (O’Boyle) Greenwood.
Mark retired from UPS after many years of service. He deeply loved his family and cherished spending time with them, especially during the holidays. He was known to plan different activities with his nieces and nephews to make their time together special and will be remembered for his generous and kind heart. Mark enjoyed many different hobbies and went all out on each one. Sports, goldmining, cooking, reading, camping, fishing, and painting miniature figures were just a few of his favorite activities.
He is survived by his father, Robert (Sharlene) Greenwood; sisters, Cindy (Philip) Fogleman, Tammie Greenwood, Stacy (Todd) James, and Marci (Erik) May; 18 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Greenwood.
Services celebrating Mark’s life will be at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road with Pastor Jason Hight officiating. Georgia Sharon DeShon
Georgia Sharon DeShon, 76, of Kokomo, IN, passed away Friday, November 23, 2024, at her home with her children and granddaughter by her side. Born March 21, 1948, in Harlan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Howard K. & Esther Lavina (Willis) Overton.
Georgia was a cherished member of the Kokomo community where she lived most of her life. She attended Kokomo High School and soon began a diverse career. She initially worked at Accurate Parts for over seven years during her school years, followed by positions at Kmart and Cottage Corner. She dedicated many years to serving in the Northwestern school cafeteria, impacting many young lives. Georgia was also a member of Moose of Noblesville #550 and the Eagles #225. She was a devout attendee of the First Assembly of God Church on Apperson Way North, where her faith played a significant role in her life and community involvement.
Georgia will be remembered fondly for her love of camping and traveling with her husband, George M. DeShon, whom she married on August 7, 2004, and who preceded her in death. She loved to garden, a favorite pastime of both her and her father, who was the master of growing gigantic tomatoes and potatoes. She also loved flowers of all kinds. Georgia's passion for life was evident in her hobbies which included exercising, skating and spending time with her friends. She even taught her children to skate at a young age, and, boy, did she love to dance!
Most importantly she was a loving Christian mother who taught her children the love of Jesus. Georgia felt that her greatest accomplishment was to love God and spread His love to her friends and family.
Georgia is survived by her brothers, William and Howard Overton; son, Dwayne E. Day Sr.; daughters, Angela (Brad) Alexander and Lisa (Dale) Martin; stepson, Russell (Carla) DeShon; stepdaughter, Kim Hatfield; and a very special friend, Carol Campbell. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to many, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, George; and her eldest son, Jesse Lee Day.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Chaplain Adam Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Vivian Carol Phifer
Vivian Carol Phifer, age 72, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024, following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born on February 8, 1952, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to her parents, Ikey Butcher and Rosie (Seabolt) Butcher. Carol married the love of her life, Kenneth Phifer, on February 12, 1968, and the two have shared 56 years together.
Carol attended Tipton High School and was in the class of 1970. Many will remember Carol from her many dedicated years of employment for Marsh Supermarket. She worked in the bakery for 30 years and was quite good at her job. When Carol wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved traveling with her husband, especially after they retired. Carol also valued every moment she was able to spend with her grandchildren. She was an incredibly proud grandma! Carol made a special point to never miss any activity or sporting event that her children and grandchildren were part of. They could always count on her to be their biggest cheerleader.
In Carol’s down time, she loved shopping. In fact, any excuse she could find to shop, she took it. She also enjoyed taking care of her home. Without a doubt, she always had the prettiest flowers on the block. Carol’s family loved her for many reasons, but they will especially miss her sassy, fun, and direct demeanor. You never had to wonder where you stood with her. She would always tell you exactly how she felt. Carol was truly a wonderful person and will be greatly missed!
Carol leaves behind her husband, Kenneth Phifer; children, Dan Phifer (Mary Jo), Doug Phifer, Donnie Phifer (Jim); loved and cherished grandchildren, Lauren Moulder (Corbin), Daniel Phifer, Bailey Phifer (Jeanie); great grandchildren and joy of Carol’s life, Beckham Eugene Phifer and Maeve Josephine Moulder; sisters, Barb Clabough, Judy Sinclair (Don), Kathy Yeary (Rick); nieces and nephews, Angela McMillian (Mike), Tyler Clabough, Garrett Clabough, Mackenzie Rich (Connor); as well as Carol’s beloved fur baby, Buddy Bud.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ikey and Rosie Butcher.
A visitation to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the American Legion, located at 129 N. Independence St. in Tipton.
