Nicolas Trent Arnett

Nicolas Trent Arnett, known affectionately as Nick to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, at the age of 55 in his hometown of Kokomo, Indiana. Born on February 26, 1969, to Jan Young and Richard Arnett, Nick's life was one marked by laughter, love, and the simple pleasures of life.

Nick was a proud graduate of Kokomo High School's class of 1987, where he formed many lifelong friendships and discovered his passion for sports. After high school, he began a fulfilling career as a repairman with Tech 3, where his knack for fixing things and his ever-present humor were well known and appreciated by his colleagues and clients alike. After High School he enlisted in the United States Army serving his country for 7 years and was stationed in Korea for 18 months.

In his personal life, Nick was a devoted husband to his wife, Genivieve, and a loving son to his parents, Jan and Richard. He was a cherished brother to Devon Burthay and Andy Tygart, and a beloved stepfather to Ma Imelda and Philip Justine. His mother-in-law, E figinia, held a special place in his heart, as did his nieces and nephew, Andrea Minor (Companion Dustin Lee), Luke Minor, and Makenzie Burthay, along with her daughter Emmery, Uncle Denny Arnett and Aunt Tammy Arnett and Aunt Sherry Forkner. Nick's life was enriched by the companionship of his special friend, John Fisher, with whom he shared many adventures.

Nick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Max and Naomi Silcox, and Ernest and Marjorie Arnett whose memory he held dear throughout his life. Their legacy of kindness and strength lived on through Nick's actions and the stories he would fondly recount.

An avid sports enthusiast, Nick's passion for his favorite teams—the Indiana University Hoosiers, the Indiana Pacers, the Green Bay Packers, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish—was infectious. He could often be found cheering on his teams, whether from the stands or from the comfort of his living room, surrounded by friends and family who shared in his excitement.

Beyond the roar of the crowd, Nick found serenity in the great outdoors. He was an accomplished fisherman and an enthusiastic deer hunter, pursuits that allowed him to embrace the tranquility of nature. These moments of quiet reflection were a source of joy and renewal for him.

Those who knew Nick will remember him as a man with a quick wit and a ready smile. His ability to find humor in everyday situations was one of his most endearing qualities. He was also incredibly handy, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all, Nick was thoughtful, consistently putting the needs and happiness of others before his own.

Nick's legacy is one of warmth, laughter, and generosity. His presence could light up a room, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye to Nicolas Trent Arnett, we celebrate the life of a man who was truly one of a kind and who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.

Nick's life will be honored and remembered in a private ceremony, in accordance with his wishes. His spirit, humor, and kindness will live on through the cherished memories shared by his family and friends.

A funeral for Nicolas will be held on Sat., Nov. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at Brookside Free Methodist Church, 190 E, CR 400 S, Kokomo. Visitation for friends and family will take place from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the church.
