Kenneth D. Barnett
Kenneth D. Barnett, 83, Kokomo, passed away at 2:12 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his home. He was born February 27, 1941, in Kokomo to Edward and Geraldine (Chapple) Barnett.
Kenneth worked at Chrysler for 10 years before going to work for General Motors where he retired after 28 years of service. He enjoyed the fellowship of friends at the Vietnam Veterans Grounds in Greentown as well as various motorsports.
He is survived by his children, Stacy Barnett and Michelle Lineberry; grandchildren, Hayley Lineberry, Taylor (Alison) Lineberry, Brandon Miller, Dylan Capes, Corbin Capes, and Colin Barnett; great-grandchildren, Emma Barnett, Baker Butzin, Jude Lineberry, Charley Lineberry, and Nolan Lineberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard “Rick” Ray Bartley
Richard “Rick” Ray Bartley, 71, of Russiaville, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent – 86th Street. He was born on December 20, 1952, in Kokomo, the son of Harvey and Carol (Shanks) Bartley. On October 12, 1974, he married the love of his life Patricia Jonas.
Rick graduated from Western High School in 1971. He then went to IUPUI with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Rick retired after 27 years working as a supervisor at General Motors. He enjoyed working outside with his dog Gus, shooting at the range with granddaughter, and hunting with his son, grandson, and German shorthaired pointers. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Rick was a member of the Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Brookston Gun Club, Indiana Sheriff’s Association, Kokomo Y’s Men’s, and a life member of the NRA. He served as the Monroe Township Trustee.
Along with his wife of 50 years, Patricia “Pat” Bartley, he is survived by his mother, Carol Bartley; son, Landen (Misty) Bartley; grandchildren, Kaden Bartley, and Kelsey Bartley; brothers-in-law, Ron Jonas, and Don Jonas; and sister-in-law, Linda Jonas.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Bartley, brother-in-law, Paul Jonas, and Fur Buddy, Gus.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo. Kathleen “Kathie” Louise Leach
Kathleen “Kathie” Louise Leach, 83, Naperville, IL, passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Thursday October 10, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Residence. She was born on May 22, 1941, in Tipton, the daughter of the late James C. and Dorothy (Smith) Smith. She married Gerald E. Leach on November 23, 1963, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2015.
Kathie graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1959 and received her Registered Nurse degree from Holy Cross Central School of Nursing in 1962. She was a RN for St. Joseph Hospital for over 50 years before she retired. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, observing her faith, which she loved so much. She enjoyed going to mass often and served as a eucharistic minister for several years. She also cherished going to eucharistic adoration to pray. Kathie adored her family and friends, often gifting them with a thoughtful card or a handmade item she had made herself. She enjoyed traveling with her loving husband of 51 years, be it a yearly ski trip to Colorado, a bike-riding trip, a trip to Australia or Ireland, or a trip to Florida to see dear friends. Kathie was an avid runner, participating in a number of mini-marathons and 5K races. She enjoyed gardening and decorating her home, especially at Christmas time. She also loved her job as a nurse, although she did not consider it a job. She considered it a privilege and an honor to care for the sick.
Kathie is survived by her loving daughters, Lisa (Todd) Karas of Geneva, IL, and Michele Leach of Indianapolis; dear grandchildren, Anna Karas of Nashville, TN, Allyson Karas of St. Charles, IL, and Michael Karas of Santa Monica, CA; great-grandson, Greyson Washington of St. Charles, IL; devoted sister, Margaret Cvek of Santa Ana, CA; loving brother, James Smyth O’Gabhann of Los Angeles, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Michael Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday October 21, 2024, St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N Washington St., Kokomo IN, with Fr. Kyle Neterer as celebrant. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the church, with the Nurse Honor Guard ceremony at 1 p.m. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes has been entrusted with arrangements. James David Jameson passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024.
A time of visitation for James will be held Monday, October 21, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary, 725 S. Main Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46901, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
James will be laid to rest in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, 2097 W. Alto Rd., Kokomo, Indiana 46902.
Sherman Thomas “Tom” Smith
Sherman Thomas “Tom” Smith, 80, Kokomo, passed away at 10:26 a.m. Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare in Marion, IN. He was born July 23, 1944, in Kokomo, the son of the late Harold & Mary (Price) Smith. On September 25, 1998, he married Sharon Pachmayr, who preceded him in death on October 16, 2021.
Tom was a 1962 graduate of Kokomo High School. After high school, Tom enlisted with the United States Air Force, serving until August of 1966. He retired as a fork truck driver from General Motors in 2002 and was a member of the UAW #292 and the VFW. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, along with watching and feeding the birds. He loved telling stories and cherished his time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Lisa Rodgers; step-son, Ron (Chirsty) Nearon; grandchildren, Jon Grubb, Austin (Emily) Townsend, Trey (Mercedes) Nearon, Wyatt Nearon, Misty (Jordan) Bunce, Toni (Anthony) Waite and Breana Torres; great-grandchildren, Mila Grubb, Finley Grubb, Brooks Townsend, Rhett Nearon, Elijah Thomas Smith, Audrie Bunce, Willow Bunce, Demetrius Smith, T’ara Kay Hunter, Jordan Torres, Ayedin Torres, Lily Torres and Destiny Smith; cousins, Kathy Epperson, Andy Sanders and Eddie Sanders; special friends, Angel and Andrew Kidd; and his best canine friend, Rip.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bradley Smith; and brothers, Jerry Smith and Paul Smith.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024, in Albright Cemetery, 3910 Albright Road, Kokomo, with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the VA Northern Indiana Hospital, CDCE, 135M, 1700 E. 38th Street, Marion, IN 46953. A celebration of life gathering will be held right after graveside service at American Legion Post 6, 2604 S. Lafountain Street, Kokomo. Beverly Ann Buzan
Beverly Ann Buzan, 71, of Hemlock, passed away at her home at 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024. She was born December 16, 1952, in Noblesville, to Silas Sanford and Patty Lou (Cook) DeVaney. On August 7, 1971, she married Gary S. Buzan, and he survives.
Beverly graduated from Noblesville High School. She worked as a teller and in electronic operations at American National Bank as well as several other banks. Beverly cherished spending time with her family and especially loved playing games with her children and grandchildren, her favorite being 500 Rummy. She enjoyed cooking and baking, making sure that no one ever went hungry, and traveling and the many trips taken to Gulf Shores, Alabama. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Noblesville.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Amy Buzan Brewster (Brian Birkey); son, Mike (Jen) Buzan; grandchildren, Dylan (Lydia) Hall, Alex Hall, Sam Brewster, Furman “Will” Brewster, Shannon (Jared) Shrontz, Dailyne Brewster, Lyric Cox, Liliahna Buzan, Ahli Buzan, and Amiya Buzan; great-grandson, Ezra Brewster; brother, Silas Sanford (Susie) DeVaney, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas Sanford DeVaney and Patty Lou Kitterman; stepfather, Chenault Kitterman; sister and brother-in-law, Karen Sue DeVaney (Mickey) Huber; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bessie Marie and Albert "Dwight" Buzan; and sisters-in-law, Sarah Ann DeVaney, and Sharron Buzan Dillanger.

Dewayne Acuff Redwine
Dewayne Acuff Redwine was born on September 4, 1974, in Knoxville, TN, to Jewell and Mildred (Bradon) Redwine. He passed away in Kokomo, IN, aged 50, on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
Dewayne leaves to cherish his memory, his brothers: Dan (Diane) Campbell, Jr. (Linda) Campbell and Randal (Lori) Little; his sisters: Connie (Ervin) Price and Shirley (Don) Ulerick; nephews: Brian, Michael and Nathan (Allison) Campbell, Kyle and Wesley Kiehnau and Cory Price; nieces: Melissa and Veronica Campbell, Kristen Kiehnau, Sharee (Greg) Wood, Tonya (David) Wininger and Gracie Coffey; great-nephews: Braxton, Devin, Camron, Matthew and Bryce Campbell, Damien, Kurt and Holden Price, and Cole Wininger; and great-nieces: Ashley Campbell, Kindsey Swartout, Britney (Killian), Alexis and Megan Wininger.
