Melinda Jo Harris
Melinda Jo Harris, 68, Greentown, Indiana, passed away at 1:27 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. She was born May 8, 1956, in Howard County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Herschel & Rebecca Joann (Quick) Jacobs.
Melinda graduated from Eastern High School in 1974. She had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored immensely. Melinda was a devout member of Jerome Christian Church, where she found great solace and community. Her hobbies included listening to music and watching TV, activities that brought her joy and relaxation.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly (Paul) Ayers; granddaughters Haylee, Makenzee, and Avree Ayers; half-brother, Don (Mary Helen) Jacobs; cousins, Mark (Tami) Lantz, Pam (Steve) Sheridan, Annette (Gary) Hyman, Debbie (Earl) Schmitz, Carol Lantz, Karen Hendershot, Randy Quick, Tom Quick, Jeannice Jones, Rae Alley, Ron (Anita) Hall, Sherry Brown, Sue Ann Westby, Jerry (Sally) Grau and Jeff (Leslee) Lantz.
Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, her half-sisters, Judith Ann Brock and Kay Abney, and several cousins.
The family would like to thank Guardian Angel Hospice and Century Villa Health Care in Greentown for their love and support for Melinda and her family.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown with Pastor David Stokes officiating, providing family and friends an opportunity to honor her memory. Hasler & Stout Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Lisa Lynn Pittman
Lisa Lynn Pittman, 59, of Logansport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at her home after a long battle with cancer with her loved ones by her side. She was born May 13, 1964, in Kokomo to Cyril and Martha (Cook) Diehl. She married Mike Pittman on July 8, 1985, in Lebanon, Kentucky, and he survives.
Lisa graduated from Lewis Cass High School in Walton in 1982. She worked at Moore’s home health for 10 years in Kokomo and then became a stay-at-home mom which she adored. Lisa enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved her primitives and working in her flower gardens. One of her favorite pastimes was mushroom hunting which was also her favorite time of the year.
Surviving family include her husband Mike of Logansport; her three children, Anthony and Jodie Pittman, Joshua Pittman, and Justin and Brianne Pittman all of Logansport. She is also survived by three grandchildren Brayden, Tyler, and Ella Pittman and another on the way. Also surviving are three siblings Jeff and Karen Diehl of Kokomo: Vicki and Bob Riley of Kokomo and Randy Diehl of Lincoln. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Martha Diehl, sister, Dedra Diehl, and a very special niece, Jessica Diehl.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 2-8 p.m. at Mike and Lisa's home.
Robert Joe “Rob” Biddle II
Robert Joe “Rob” Biddle II, 68, Greentown, IN, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Rob was born to the late Betty (Wilson) and Robert J “Big Bob” Biddle in Kokomo, IN.
Rob graduated in 1974 from Eastern High School where he played basketball and continued his love of sports throughout his life. He was a manager at T-Way during his senior year. Rob joined the United States Army where he served in California as a military police officer.
Rob retired from Kokomo Sanitary Pottery and went on to work at Chrysler, retiring in 2021 after 23 years. He graduated from Ivy Tech earning an associated degree in marketing while working at the pottery. His sisters say he was “the best brother ever.” He was a wonderful grandfather, loving father, caring husband and a loyal and honest friend. Rob’s grandkids were his life.
Rob is survived by his wife and partner of 38 years, Theresa “Terry” (Crow) Biddle; children, Madison Harrison, Joshua Biddle, Shane Crow and Taylor Harrison; his reason for waking each day were his grandkids, Olivia Crow, Zane Crow, Justin Crow Jr., Tre Harrison, Asher Barnes and London Graves; sisters, Pam Kaliner, Kathy Grider, and Jane Heflin; and best friend, Doris Trent.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents and son, Justin Crow Sr.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 1-5 p.m. at Phi Delta Kappa, 2401 Saratoga Ave., Kokomo, IN. Please join us at this calm and relaxing location to share stories and have some food and celebrate this man we loved. Hasler & Stout Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation.
Philip Ray Layfield Jr.
Philip Ray Layfield Jr., 70, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at his home. He was born in Shelby County, IN, on September 1, 1954, the son of the late Philip Ray Layfield Sr. and Nancy Ellen (Keith) Layfield Sparks. He was married to Tina Hooten, and together they had a daughter, Melissa Layfield. Philip was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis and very recently retired from Bimbo Baking Company where he worked for the last 21 years.
Philip was a sweet man with a gentle soul. He was very intelligent which showed in his extensive knowledge about aviation, outer space, NASA, and all things military and history. He had a passion for all genres of music but was especially fond of attending rock and roll concerts. Philip loved attending aviation shows with family. His love of aviation was a result of his experiences with his father, who was a private pilot.
Philip is survived by his daughter, Melissa Layfield; grandchildren, Damon Nelson, Aurianna Juan, Autumn Layfield; siblings, Michael (Dawn) Layfield, Susan (Tom) Akard; nephew, Michael Akard; nieces, Carly (Seth) Anderson, Kelly (Kyle) Britton, and Natalie (Brandon) Lovins; and mother of his daughter, Tina Hooten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Nathan Layfield.
A graveside service will be held at Spencer Cemetery in Sheridan. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
