Mary Katherine Lowe
Mary Katherine Lowe, aged 80, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at IU North Hospital in Carmel. She was born on February 29, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio, to Carl and Lucille (Kinser) Gross.
Mary grew up in Dayton, where she graduated from Colonel White High School. After completing her secondary education, she began her collegiate studies at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania then later graduating from the University of Dayton. Mary held a position in administration at the University of Dayton and also worked as a real estate investor. After her professional career, she moved to Tipton County and then later to Noblesville.
A woman of deep spiritual faith, Mary was an active member of the Holy Spirit Parish at Geist. In addition to her professional endeavors, she was a published author and had a strong interest in architecture, genealogy, and interior design. Mary was also committed to holistic health practices and enjoyed outdoor activities such as golfing, hiking, biking, and playing tennis.
She is survived by her two children, David Lowe and wife Audry of Tipton County, Benjamin Lowe and wife Manpreet of Fishers; sisters, Carla Steinbach and husband Dale of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Linda Perkins and husband Fred of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Bella Lowe, Akaash Lowe, and Vishal Lowe. Mary is also survived by the father of her children, Paul Lowe of Noblesville. She was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Pummill.
Mary Katherine Lowe leaves behind a legacy enriched by her varied accomplishments and the lives she touched. Her family and friends will remember her for her warmth, intelligence, and unwavering spirit.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fishers, Indiana with Rev. Cole Dairy presiding. Later on Tuesday there will be a visitation at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. A private family burial is planned for the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Miamisburg, Ohio.

Jeffrey R. Berg
Jeffrey R. Berg, 72, of Marion, died Friday evening August 30, 2024, at the Veteran Hospital in Marion. He was born in Tipton, Indiana, on December 6, 1951, to Richard and Madelyn (Park) Kendall Berg. Jeff grew up in the Tetersburg area and later resided in several northern Indiana cities to include Upland, Kokomo, Gas City, and Tipton.
Jeff proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Tetersburg Christian Church. Jeff was a quiet soul, enjoying the simple things in life especially his pet dogs. He could often be found working a crossword puzzle as the day passed by. He was an Elvis enthusiast, frequently listening to his gospel songs. He had a strong work ethic, helping area farmers throughout the growing season.
Survivors include his siblings, Jenny McDaniel and husband Dale of Goldsmith, David Berg and wife Theresa of Kokomo, Felicia Morris of Kokomo and brother-in-law Bruce Henry of Tipton; and several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his sister, Candy Henry.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 5, at Noon at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Visitation will also be on Thursday morning from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will follow at Tetersburg Cemetery.

Janet D. Smith
Janet D. Smith, 90, of Russiaville, IN, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. She was born on Aug. 9, 1934, in Kokomo, IN, the daughter of Wayne A. and Iola Bernice (Williams) Pearson.
Janet was a 1952 graduate of Kokomo High School and attended Indiana University of Kokomo. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Jim D. Smith, on Nov. 23, 1952, and they celebrated 42 years of marriage before his death in 1995. She was employed at Globe, Stellite, and Delco before starting her career as secretary in the Athletic Department at Western School Corporation, a job she loved, from which she retired in 1995. Janet was very active throughout her life and enjoyed many activities, including gardening, bowling, golf, crocheting with a local church group, playing cards with various groups of friends, and traveling the world. She was known for being a great cook and loved to host large family gatherings.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Ross Pearson, Phillip Pearson and Neal Pearson.
She is survived by her four children, Kent (Janice) Smith, of Kokomo, IN, Kirk (Lee Ann) Smith of Russiaville, IN, Kristie (Kevin) Atkinson of Corning, NY, and Kevin (Amy) Smith of Colorado Springs, CO; eleven grandchildren, Craig Smith, Ryan Smith, Melissa Ryan, Emily Smith, Bradford Smith, Kyle Atkinson, Nathan Atkinson, Lindsy Wilkerson, Rachel Rumple, Rebekah Scribner, and Daniel Smith; eleven great-grandchildren; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Janet will be interred at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kokomo, IN. There will be a private memorial service to celebrate her life at a later date, no public services are planned. Thomas Lavon Walters
Thomas Lavon Walters, 89, of Marion, IN, passed away August 28, 2024. He was born on March 1, 1935, in Logansport, Indiana, the son of Robert W. and Mary L. (Snyder) Walters. Tom worked at GM for 30 years before retiring in 1986. Tom was an avid sports fan and loved the Colts, Purdue, and the Pacers. He loved spending time with his grandkids and enjoyed teaching them new things. He mowed the dog park in Sweetser and volunteered at the Honeywell Center in Wabash as an usher. He absolutely loved every dog he ever had, especially his dog, Tiny.
Left to cherish his memory is his children, Lesa Nelson, Cynthia Cameron, Greg Walters, Rhonda Lowery, Elizabeth Walker; grandchildren, Alexandra (Justin) Harris, Grant Nelson, Jason Lee, Jeremy Lee, Joshua Lee, Joseph Cameron, Timothy Lowery, Jennifer Lowery, Claire (Paul) Stancombe, Harrison Walker; great-grandchildren, David Stancombe and many more; cousins, Fern Fennell, Pam (John) Frazee, Melody (Mark) Jennings; brothers-in-law, David (Susan) Welch, Konnie Welch; niece, Christina Welch; nephew, Michael Welch; great-nephew, Aidan Welch.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Donald; his loving wife, Norma Walters.
