Carrie Zinn

Carrie Zinn, 98, of Kokomo, Indiana died at 10:40pm on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born April 22,1925 in Tallmadge, Ohio. The daughter of Karl and Myrtie Kramer.

She married Ralph Leslie Dumoulin in 1946 and together they had 5 children. He precedes her.

On February 19, 1974, she married James Zinn, and he also precedes her.

She was a member of Grace Community Church.

Surviving are 2 daughters of Kokomo Linda (Steve) Farrington and Jayne (Gary) Reed. 3 sons of Kokomo Leslie (Debbie) Dumoulin, Pat (Terri) Dumoulin, and Daniel (Keitha Kunkle) Dumoulin, 1 stepson of Indianapolis Warren (Jane) Zinn. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her 2 husbands, Carrie is preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, 5 brothers, and 1 granddaughter.

A visitation for Carrie will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM officiated by Rev. Betty (Harris) Connaway and Rev. Mike Rush. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.

Cairo Amari Ray

Cairo Amari Ray, treasured son of Destiny Ray, and beloved little brother of Zy’aire, was born into this world, peacefully sleeping on September 21, 2023, at 10:21 p.m., weighing 7 lb 1 oz and measuring 21 inches long at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo.

Cairo was an incredibly cherished nephew, cousin, grandson and great-grandson. Although he didn’t get to spend time with us on earth, he deeply touched our lives and hearts. He is now in the arms of his Grandma Lorna and Grandpa John in heaven.

He is survived by his mother, Destiny Ray; brother, Zy’aire Iraola; sisters, Hazel Brent and Allie Brent; grandmother, Kiona Brent; great-grandparents, Donna Price, Telmon Nix and Michele McCoy; aunts and uncles, Isabella Ray, Devan Anetrella, Cristen Lantz and Terriona Tucker, and many loving cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles.

Cairo will forever live on in our hearts.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 29, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Jeff Haill officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10-11 am Friday at the funeral home.

Sharon Ann (Moulder) Franklin

Our mother, Sharon Ann (Moulder) Franklin, died peacefully September 20, 2023 at Aston Gardens in Naples, Florida under the care of Avow Hospice. Born July 7, 1931 in Lafayette, Indiana, she was the daughter of Thomas Penn Moulder, Sr. and Cynthia I. Hobbs.

She first married Allen B. Rayl in 1954, and later married Benjamin W. Franklin. She graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota with a B.S. in Art. She and Allen had three children: Eleanor Rayl of Bonita Springs, FL, Allen B. Rayl, Jr., of Waterford, MI and Elizabeth “Libby” (Christopher) Riesen of Estero, FL, who survive her. She is also survived by her step-children; Karmen Hayes and Benjamin (Nancy) Franklin; her sister, Sara “Sally” (Moulder) Neave of South Africa; two nieces and one nephew, and their children, several cousins and six (Rayl) nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Allen and Benjamin, her brother, Thomas Penn Moulder, Jr., step-daughters Karen Engel and Benille Appelgreen, and brother-in-law James Neave.

Sharon was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church, Kokomo. She was active with Tri Kappa sorority in Kokomo, where she served as chapter president in the 1960s. She was also an insurance agent with Citizens Insurance, where she was a partner with her husband. Noted for artistic skills, there are several paintings that she did during her lifetime. Sharon treasured time spent at family cottage on Klinger Lake in Sturgis, Michigan. She shared activities of skiing and fishing with her children, building life-long memories of time spent at the lake.

There will be a time for visitation on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 10am-noon at Grace United Methodist Church, 219 W. Mulberry St., Kokomo, IN, 46901. At noon, there will be a gathering and short graveside service where she will buried, in Crown Point Cemetery, 1101 E. Sycamore St., Kokomo, IN. Linda Lou Spradling

Linda Lou Spradling, 68, Kokomo, passed away at 10:14 pm on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at her home. She was born in Tipton, IN to the late Marion Gene Spradling and Bertha Louise (McClory) Stites on January 29, 1955.

Linda graduated from Eastern High School and just recently attended her 50th class reunion. She was Owner Operator of Stites Cleaners for fifteen years. She would later work for Chrysler and Honda before retiring in 2016. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, collecting teddy bears, and shopping. She enjoyed getting on her computer and googling information.

Linda is survived by her children, Sara Summers and Jarred Summers; grandchildren, Bryson (Jade) Summers, Ethan Miller, Dylan Miller, Isabella Summers, Gabriella Summers, and Landon Summers; great grandchildren, Kaia Gainer and Riley Summers; sister, Sally Lushin; nieces & nephews, Elliot (Erin) Lushin, Whitney (Hannah) Lushin, and Spencer (Anya) Lushin; great nieces & nephews, Zoey Lushin, Mattis Lushin, Rosie Lushin, and Lily Lushin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepdad, Robert Stites; half-brother, Marion Eugene Spradling II; and stepsister, Judy Rozzi.

A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Monday October 2, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 pm until the start of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Wilbur “Gene” Hochstedler

Wilbur “Gene” Hochstedler, 84, Greentown, passed away at 11:58 pm Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born on October 17, 1938 in Kokomo, the son of the late Willis and Nona (Helmuth) Hochstedler. On July 6, 1974, he married Patricia (Lemish) Hochstedler in Elkhart, and she survives.

Gene was a 1956 graduate of Clay Township High School. He enjoyed woodworking and vacationing in Alaska.

In addition to his wife Patricia, Gene is survived by his children, David (Veronica) Hochstedler, Karen (Don) Schnoebelen, Mike (Jen) Burkmire, Kathy (Ron) Dresser, and Doug (Lori) Burkmire; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Yoder.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents.

A private celebration of life will take place at a later date. Hasler-Stout Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org/donate, in Gene’s memory.



Jeffrey “Jeff” Lynn Reed

Jeffrey “Jeff” Lynn Reed, 67, of Kokomo, passed away September 25, 2023, at Brickyard Healthcare in Kokomo after an extended illness. He was born in Kokomo, on August 13, 1956, the son of the late Bobby Reed and Patricia (Orr) Winkler.

Jeff was a 1974 graduate of Kokomo High School, then later earned an Associate’s degree from Ivy Tech. He retired from Chrysler as a machine operator in 1985. He was fascinated with motorcycles and drag racing. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was his favorite driver. Jeff was a member of UAW #685.

He is survived by his brother, Donald (Susan) Reed; sister, Paula (Robert) Jones; stepfather, Robert Winkler; stepsisters, Cindy Winkler Wethington, Janet Winkler; nephew, Ryan Pierce; nieces, Jennifer (Steve) Hinds, Natalie (Brian) Gillespie, Valerie Pierce, Alison (Ben) Creason; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Reed and Patricia Winkler; and nephew, Nick Reed.

Jeff’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Caring Hands in Peru, Kokomo Healthcare, and Brickyard Healthcare in Kokomo for the loving care they provided. To everybody that Jeff met during his 37-year journey with Parkinson’s, thank you for making his journey enjoyable.

Kimberly Leann Sullivan

Kimberly Leann Sullivan, Kokomo, born sleeping at 2:04 am Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. She was the daughter of Adam Sullivan and Christina Vincent.

Along with her parents, Kimberly is also survived by her grandparents, Preston (Robin) Vincent, Brenda Roberts (Nick Huff), Jeff Dunlap, and Jay Sullivan; great-grandmother, Wilma Sullivan; aunts, Angel Travis, and Macie Brown; uncle, Josh Sullivan; great-aunt, Linda Keech; cousins, Carrie Keech, Fay Keech, James Rairden, and Zay Travis.

Kimberly was preceded in death by her uncle, Zach Dunlap; grandmother, Mary Sullivan; great-grandparents, Samuel and Mae Kelly; and uncle, Jimmy Sullivan.

No services will be held. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with cremation.
