An introduction to JC Barnett III, director of the Carver Community Center

Who am is JC Barnett III? First and foremost, I am a child of God. Secondly, I am a husband and father, with a beautiful wife and four amazing kids. Family and faith are at the center of everything I do. And I am dedicated to mentoring, leading, and advocating for young people in the city of Kokomo.

My passion for youth was shaped early on by watching my father dedicate decades of his time to coaching youth sports. Following in my father’s footsteps, I have made it my mission to guide, inspire, and uplift the next generation, using education, sports, and mentorship as powerful tools for growth and transformation.

Kokomo is my home. This is where I have lived all my life, and serving this community has always been my calling. I have the privilege of leading an organization that has been a cornerstone for generations. My passion is to create a space where young people feel safe, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Everything I do is rooted in my desire to build the kingdom of Heaven through service, mentorship, and love.

Carver has always been more than just a community center to me. I grew up as a “Carver Kid,” and I know firsthand how much this place can impact a child’s life. I want every young person who walks through our doors to feel that same sense of belonging and opportunity.

Under my leadership, we have expanded our programs to ensure that kids have access to experiences that will shape their futures. From robotics and tutoring to music, fine arts, and leadership development, our goal is to expose young minds to possibilities beyond what they may see in their everyday lives.

Education is at the heart of everything we do. I believe that every child has the potential for greatness, but they need the right guidance, encouragement, and resources to get there. That’s why we work to create programs that challenge kids academically while also building their confidence and character. I want them to see that they are capable of achieving their dreams, no matter where they come from or what obstacles they face.

My motivation to keep going comes from my faith in Jesus Christ. I am not perfect, but I strive every day to live a life of integrity, service, and love. I want the work I do at Carver to reflect His love, by giving kids opportunities, supporting families, and strengthening our community. My hope is that when young people leave Carver, they don’t just leave with new skills or experiences, but with a belief in themselves and a vision for their future.

This work is not just a job to me, it is a calling. As long as God allows me, I will continue to pour into this community, uplift our young people, and create a legacy of hope, education, and opportunity.
