Join Garry “Muskrat” Hill and fall in love with Wildcat Creek with the Greentown Historical Society! Wildcat Guardian and river activist Garry Hill will make a presentation Wed., Oct. 9, at Greentown Historical Society, 103 E. Main Street, Greentown, at 6 p.m.
Hill will talk about the history of the 82 miles of the Wildcat Creek, and associated canoe and kayak travels, as well as fishing activities. He has shared his knowledge of the Wildcat Creek almost since he started canoeing it 52 years ago.
Hill has started multiple clubs to paddle and protect the waterway, including the Wildcat Canoe Club in 1975 and the Wildcat Guardians in 1990. Shortly after forming the Wildcat Canoe Club, he discovered the Hoosier Canoe Club, and he is now a Life Member.
Garry also helped to start an Adopt-A-River program with DNR’s Division of Outdoor Recreation, which led to getting Wildcat Creek named an Indiana State Natural Scenic River.
