First Friday fun happening at the library

Celebrate the September First Friday at the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library with movie night themed crafts, activities and treats.

From 5:30 to 8 p.m., visitors to the library can enjoy a variety of fun crafts and games, with treats available while supplies last. All activities are free and open to the public.

The library’s First Friday fun will take place at the main location, 220 N. Union St. The library’s theme for the evening, Movie Night, was chosen to coincide with the annual 48-Hour Film Contest screening and awards show happening that same night. The screening will take place at Sun King Kokomo from 7-10 p.m. in the Depot Room. This event is also free and open to the public.

Library to host free swing dance class

For those who have ever wanted to learn to swing dance, the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library is hosting a free class open to all ages.

In partnership with Motion Arts in Kokomo, the library’s dance classes are offered for free to help beginners learn the basics. The upcoming swing dance class will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 at KHCPL Russiaville, 315 Mesa Drive, in the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.

Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toed and closed-heeled shoes and to bring a water bottle. This class is open to couples or singles, and no dance experience is required.
